Hey Ya'll

Just wondering what the best time to go in May would be??? Is there a good week thats better then the other, and when do they start expanding the week hours from 8-11? If I remember correctly it was some time in may this year anyway.

If I remember correctly the 1st week is good. But I wanted to be confirmed on that. Early june the last few years has been quite busy.

We went that week in 2005 and it was nuts. We had a great time, but it wasn't the relaxed type of vacations we've had at WDW. By around 10 each morning they were putting out the white ropes...meaning the regular que's weren't big enough.

I was at disneyland this may 4th -11th crowds during the week were managable, saturday was crowd crazy ,mothers day not so bad sunday nights were excellent no wait times. Most wait times were no more than 15mins anything more we would use fast pass or just move on and went back latter to a smaller line. All attractions were open except IASW overall an excellent time.:cool2:

Thank you for that info lampardcl because thats when I plan on going. What were the hours like during that time? Did they have the extended hours going then? I know in May this year they had extended hours, but I couldnt remember when they went into effect.

HI there, we went in may 06 from the 13 til the 23rd...it was awesome, low crowds and nice weather...to see fireworks and stay late we had to go on one of the weekend days....that day was crazy busy, but the weekdays were great...so great that we are heading back in may 09 from the 2-12....:cool1: yah

Yep, May is great, especially the weekdays. Weekend, of course are crowded. If we go on the weekends, we go early and then go hope when it gets crowded. (about 1 p.m.) or cross over to DCA. Never as crowded as DL. :goodvibes

You and I think alike when planning trips! :) We had the same thoughts, early June has just gotten too busy.

This year we are planning for the first week of May. Hopefully before Grad nights begin. It's also my ds's b-day, so I think that works out well. :)

Yeah its my birthday too during that time. I cant wait. :thumbsup2

And yes June has gotten way to busy. Went last year and it was busy but this year was just insane. I like the warmer weather. Its really nice.

Do you think its best to go After mothers day but before memorial day????

hey mystic...long time no see...why does your avatar location say california...did you move???? anytime in May is good except around Memorial Day...I would try for the first part of May

DS's b'day is the 26th, and this year that was the holiday Monday. We started our trip on that day and it was NOT busy, not at all. It was a lovely trip.

People said it was busy over the weekend, but everyone I assume was going home on Sunday or Monday morning, and the parks were terrific.

I think those crowds were insanely busy because that's right after Disneyland launched the 50th Anniversary celebration. May is generally a good time to go, but if you want the fireworks, you'll need to include a weekend in your plans and those will be much busier, though Friday would be less busy than Saturday.

Thanks everyone for all your help. Its amazing. Definately planning for early May now. Probably from the 5th to 13th, so I will be able to catch the weekend shows during that time. Going to Universal on mothers day hoping to at least by pass some of the crazy weekend mothers day rush.

Oh and disneegrl4eva yeah I know its been awhile. I just became a new 1st time mommy so its been very time consuming. Not much time for free play these days.

We also went in May of 05. It wasn't a great time for us to go for two reasons. It was really pretty busy due to the 50th anniversary celebration starting and we were there with our almost 2 year old who woke up around 6am. Most days the parks didn't open until 9 or 10 so it seemed like once we finally got there it was time to go back to the room for his nap!

Anyway... we are going this next May 10-17 and hoping that this time it won't be so crowded!
