It's not for January 2007 but 2008. Next Christmas i'd love to surprise my kids with a vacation to Disneyland. Is January a bad time to go? If I could, I'd surprise them with the Vacation on Christmas day and leave that night and fly down but imagine that would be incredibly expensive. Are the prices outrageous between Christmas and newyears?
Thanks so much
Lisa

We have a room at the Candy Cane for $109 a night for 12/29-1/2. We love our New Year's trips. We go for a couple days on either side of NYE.

I dont know about the time between Christmas and New Years. I think those times can be busy (never been at that time.) One of my fave times to go is late January. The weather is nice, the crowds are low. We walk on to most rides. Some people dont like taking their kids out of school, but DSS is good about getting his homework done before we leave. I think that Christmas and New Years would be a magical time to go. Have fun planning your trip! :cool1
snuggle26, where in Oregon are you? I am in Eugene.

How are crowds in early January (i.e. the week after new year's). This seems like a great time to go, since the holiday stuff is still going on (although it is wrapping up), but I was wondering what sorts of crowds to expect. It seems like most kids should be back in school by then?

Thanks!

I was in Portland, Oregon but just recently crossed the river to Vancouver, WA.

Can't speak to the room rates, but Christmas vacation is busy, so you would have to plan your trip with that in mind & expect bigger crowds & longer lines, although the parks are open longer (midnight for DL & 10 PM for DCA).

If missing school isn't a factor, mid-to-late January is a good time to go. Crowds are smaller, but the parks are back to regular Fall/Winter operating hours (weekdays 8 PM for DL & 6 PM for DCA, weekends 10/11 PM for DL & 8/9 PM for DCA) except for the MLK weekend.

The week after New Year's is still Christmas vacation & the holiday stuff is scheduled to end 1/7, so it would still be busy. Most kids don't go back until Monday the 8th.

We have gone a few times in mid January (around Martin Luther King Day), and the place is EMPTY. Seriously, you walk around and the lines for rides all say 5 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, my kids were too young to go on many of the good rides that would normally have long lines :) A couple times I just went on the rides without them.

That said, I'm sure it's crazy around Xmas and New Year's cuz everyone is out of school.
