Disneyland in December?

Hello,

My family and I are hoping to go to Disneyland in December. The dates we are considering are the 7th-12th. I have a couple of questions, I was hoping someone could help with.

I have read that the CM parties might be the 7/8. I wasn't really concerned about that, should I be? It appears that California Adventure is open late, even if Disneyland closes early, is this correct?

We would fly in on a Monday and leave on the Sat. Which would mean we wouldn't get to enjoy the park on the weekend. Is this a bad idea? Are there many things happening on the weekend that we would miss out on?

Are things like fireworks/parades happening during the week, or just on the weekend?

Would the December 2008 schedule be comparable to the 2009 schedule?

Thanks so much!:)

We will be there the 5-12th. CM party days are great. DL closes early but CA stays open till 9. The parks have always been great on these days for us.
You won't miss out on anything becuase they do the fireworks and snow every night. I can't remember if Fantasmic is every night or not but you can see it on Friday night if not.
The christmas parade is awesome and it plays every day 2 times.
I always use the previous years schedule and have not been let down.

We did Dec 7th-12th in 2006 and it was great. The crowds were really low and I didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes for anything (except Capt. Jack). The fireworks and the parade were everyday and Fanstasmic was Fri, Sat and Sun.

Thank you both for your replies:)

It sounds like the week we are thinking of will work just find then!

I can't wait to officially book:yay:

We love Disney any time during December...the magic is everywhere and the crowds just dont seem to matter...We are looking forward to going for New Years (Dec 29-Jan 2). The decorations, the holiday treats, the music...you will have a great time!!:cloud9:

I loved DL at Christmas! It's so beautiful! We went in 2007 and there lines were not bad at all except for Indiana Jones:upsidedow

We went in December 2007 and let me tell you it was AMAZING! There is nothing like Disneyland at Christmas time! The decorations are wonderful, the fireworks are grand and the parades are adorable! When the snow drops on Mainstreet I actually teared up!

I have to say that going in December pretty much ruined it for us going any other time of year!:rotfl2:

Have a wonderful trip!!!!!

December is great. We went in 07 around mid month, we are going again this year as well. DD will turn 10 while we are there. :)

We went last year the 2nd weekend of December. One of the most amazing times we've ever had. We're doing everything possible to go back this year for Christmas again. Nothing compares to it. Even if the crowds are large, it doesn't seem to matter. The only time it got a bit frustrating is during the candlelight procession, so we hung out at a different area of the park.

Although I can't compare it to any other time since the first time we have ever gone was last year 11/29 to 12/3 and it was AWESOME. 11/29 was are first time in the park and we were expecting HUGE crowds but it was very nice. Longest wait was for nemo at 35 mins. all other rides were under 15 mins. The weekends were longer and more crowded but well worth it. Im going during a NON holiday time in DL so well see how it compares :cool1:

I'm so glad to hear this, as we are thinking of going around the same time this year, possibly Sun. 11/29 through Thurs. 12/3. Since that Sunday is part of Thanksgiving weekend, do you think that week will be bad with people extending their vacations to the weekdays?

I can't wait to see the parks all gussied up for Xmas! :cool1:

Christmas at DL is absolutely fabulous, the decorations and holiday cheer is wonderful. The only thing I was hoping (and am still hoping) for is that the WOC viewing area is opened up sooner than scheduled for. We'll be there from the 13th to 18th and it supposedly is opening up on our last day. :sad1:
I'm hoping for lots of pixiedust to magically open it earlier. :santa:
