I am trying to find a cheap hotel for our trip to DL in May. We are not into fancy rooms, just need a clean place to sleep! It is just myself and my daughter so size isn't really an issue either. So far, I have found the same rates at both the Howard Johnson's and the Park Vue Inn both on Harbor Blvd. I have read lots of revies on the HoJo but none on the Park Vue. Has anybody every stayed there before? Any good or bad experiences to share? (Note: this is not the Park Place Inn, but a different hotel). Thanks!

Park Vue is an older two story motel with exterior corridors. The have done some remodeling, mostly on the outside, in the last year. The room we had was comfortable and clean but it was pretty noisy. We could hear the cars pulling in outside and everyone who walked by. I have read a couple of decent reviews and many, many bad ones. The best part about this place is it's location. It is just a minute or less from the cross walk over to the parks.
Howard Johnson is in a complete different league. It has, mostly interrior corridors, large comfortable rooms and pretty grounds, two pools. It is a bit farther of a walk to crosswalks... maybe 3-5 minutes. The two places do not really compare. If the price is the same than HoJo is a MUCH better deal.

As above post says, HoJo is much nicer than Park Vue. We love HoJo and no longer stay anywhere else. It's a few minutes (literally 3-4 minutes) farther than Park Vue but MUCH nicer.

The two pool areas are very nice. The rooms are all recently renovated and extremely clean and well maintained. It is a 'hotel' not 'motel', with interior corridors to get into your room. Their gift shop has a great selection of breakfast and snack foods, including fruit, yougurt and milk. Also great souvenoirs that are less expensive than in the park.

Mimi's is just accross the street and great place to eat, or stop and get a muffin to go on the way to the park. We always eat quick breakfast while we walk to the park so we can get there as early as possible.

It's about 7 - 8 minutes from the front of HoJo to the maingate at DL and that's walking with three older kids, a stroller and grandparents.

And HoJo has free high-speed internet access in every room!!

Call Hojos directly 714-776-6120 and book a room at Entertainment rate (if available for your dates) .
Twice now I have booked a room at $45 a night by calling two to three months in advance.

Any Entertainment (Happenings) discount book will work.. so if you buy one for your area just grab the card to show at check in ::yes::

If you don't have an Entertainment book, HoJo's is a sponsor of Mouseinfo (a DL board)
http://www.mouseinfo.com/
and gives good rates to Mouseinfo members. That's how I book unless the entertainment book gives me a better rate.

We stayed at the Park Vue about five years ago. For the price we paid, it was decent, but I probably woudn't go back. The room was small, the walls were thin, the bathroom had mold. Maybe it's changed since then though.
