I am thinking about making a reservation there this November 2011. I can't find any construction information... Can ya'll help?

Are all the rooms already renovated? or is it a request?

Is the construction completed?

Hi Raecheal,

I am booking the Disney Hotel also and from what I understand from posts on this board, speaking with someone from "small world travel" and the direct Disney customer service people is that two building are complete and the third is about halfway done. Not sure the rate of time until completion but all I can suggest is asking for one of the buildings that is finished with renovations and a room not facing the courtyard. That should at least help, although there are no guarantees on requests.

Hope this helps

:)

It's all supposed to be done by 2012 which probably means it will be ready for Christmas season 2011. Not when the holiday season starts in the parks I mean when almost every kid is out of school and the parks are busy.

I'm sure the major work will be done and just some odds and ends being done in late November. Not major incoviniences.

Does it make sense that the rooms are cheaper on Expedia then on the actual Disney site?
(We've always just booked through disney for WDW :confused3)

You will get a renovated room. They are on the last tower and they are no longer putting people in the unrenovated rooms. Based on what we saw when we were there in June, I am guessing that the construction on the Towers will be complete by the time you get there. As for the rest of the construction, it is hard to say. I've heard the Neverland pool remodel is supposed to be finished by November 2011, but I have also heard it is not supposed to be finished until Summer 2012, so I have no idea which date is right. The hotel is great even with the construction going on.

Ktlm: Is the pool at DLH being used now even though it is not finished? We will be there in August and wondering what shape the new pool will be in.

The monorail pool is completely finished and open. There are water slides and a little wading area in the main portion of that pool, as well as lots of great lounge chairs facing the slides etc. As far as an actual standard swimming pool, there is a small pool behind the monorail pool. It is fine for swimming, but if you plan to sit in a chair by it and watch the kids, that won't work. You can't really see it from the lounge chair area because the monorail slides block your view. There is no place for chairs around it because of the way the area is. You can sit on the concrete and dangle your legs into it and there is plenty of room to walk around it, but the sides just don't have room for chairs. The area where the Neverland pool was is completely closed and that pool will remain closed until the refurbishment is done which won't be by August. (Once the Neverland pool is open it and the small pool will be right next to each other and there will be room for chairs where you can see the small pool from them) I posted this on another thread, but this is what they were doing to the Neverland pool the day we left:

Sometimes Expedia has better rates but not usually. You are looking very far out for a DLR trip, most people don't come from far away and book well ahead. It's possible rates could go down or up, and maybe even have a special on hotel rates. So it's a bit of a gamble to take the expedia rate right now because it looks better. If it was my decision I would wait until August and maybe even September, holding out for a special.
