(And a few other things!)

Hi everyone!

I'm planning my first visit to Disneyland this spring (either the last week of April or first week of May) and I like to consider myself a WDW expert but I'm clueless about Disneyland haha. It seems like everyone who goes for the first time stays in the Disneyland Hotel, which is great, but it's SO expensive! Yet I've read over here people getting rates as low as $199 a night...how is that possible? I know how to find discounts on WDW resorts, but what is the secret to Disneyland resorts? I was just going to stay in a Good Neighbor hotel, but if I can get a good rate for the Disneyland hotel, that would be nice...

Also, I know a ton of things are closing in January, and one thing I saw on the list is Soarin'-is that going to be closed until the Spring? It's my favorite ride at WDW so I was hoping to experience it at Disneyland too.

Thanks in advance!

You're in luck! The time you are planning on attending is the same time as Dapper day! Just google spring Dapper day Disneyland and you will find the website.
We are also planning a trip for the end of April and are excited about dapper day (and the convention rates lol). You can make the reservations online, or give them a call. I believe they also offer discounted park tickets. I'm not sure how to buy those tho.
We are also crossing our fingers that soaring will be opened before we go!
Also , don't cross paradise pier off your list of hotels to stay at. We stayed there in December and LOVED it.

The Dapper Day's DLH current rate is $204 before taxes and fees. One of your dates will have to be April 30th or May 1st in order to get the DD rates. There will also be reduced rate tickets through the event. As the date approaches the nightly rate may increase or even sell out.

The GCH is $254/nt and PPH is $184/nt. Taxes and fees are generally around 17%.

It's a nice way to stay onsite at a reduced rate. I have no idea where people are finding the DLH for $199/night? Even with an AP discount it's never that good.

Have a nice trip

Here`s the phone number for convention reservations like Dapper Days . 714-520-5005. It`s better to call than booking online, more flexible. Tell them you want the Dapper Day rates and add park hoppers to your room reservation. That locks in the price against any increases. 5 day park hoppers convention rates are $269. There is no registration required to use the Dapper Day`s discounts. The $199 for DLH was from last year. I recommend staying at the Grand Californian. It`s only $259 ( $ 297.18 with taxes included ) I `m not sure about the April 30 , May 1 requirement. Ask when you call. The convention rates are offered for the two week period surrounding Dapper Day May 1. ( I think April 25 thru May 7 ) I know there is a minimum booking of at least 2 days. Be aware that Tinkerbell Marathon starts on May 5 so there will be bigger crowds around that time.

From what i`ve read, Soaring is going to reopen with the new Soarin` Over the World after it premiers at Shanghai Disney. Shanghai Disney is supposed to open early 2016, which I hope is before Spring Break.

Thanks everyone! I had no idea they offered a discount for dapper day, that's awesome! All I have to do is call and ask for those rates?

Is dapper day crazy at Disneyland? I've been to a few in WDW and it doesn't really seem to be that much more crowded there, but it seems like it gets a little busy in Disneyland. Then if I go the first week in May I have the marathon to worry about...would I be better off going the last week of April? I can deal with crowds at WDW because I know what I'm doing there but Disneyland crowds scare me haha!

We went Dapper Days in 2015, the last week of Feb. The crowds were very nice - in fact, it was the last time I saw nice crowds at DL. The Marathon certainly pumps a lot of people into the parks, as we experienced in November. The last week of April may be a safer bet.

We also stayed at the DLH for Dapper Days because of the great price. It's probably the only time we'd ever be able to afford it. It was a cool experience, but I still like the the WDW moderate hotels better.

Call ASAP I had a friend try to book Concierge at the GCH and was told all sold out.. They only set aside a limited number of rooms. They may add more but no guarantee.

Thanks everyone! I booked the Disneyland Hotel online for 5 nights with the Dapper Day discount! I'm so excited! And the first week of May was already sold out, so I booked for the last week in April, I was kind of leaning more towards that week anyway, so that made the decision on which week to go pretty easy! I can't believe I'll actually be staying at the Disneyland hotel, I really thought I was going to be stuck in a Good Neighbor hotel for my first Disneyland trip haha!

(Not that there's anything wrong with that, and anyway, our first 2 nights we'll be in a different hotel anyway, because I didn't want to do the whole week in the Disneyland Hotel!)

I didn't buy tickets, because online it said they are available 6 weeks before the event, is it different if you call? Like if I called, would I be able to add tickets on now, or should I just wait to buy them online when they are available?

This is so different from WDW, so much more complicated lol!

Thanks again!

You could have added tickets to your room reservation if you called. I would call back now and tell them to add Park Hoppers to your room reservation. You will pay for them with your room bill. By adding them to your reservation now, you lock in the price against any potential price hike before you arrive.

I was able to get a $197 rate for DL hotel through the dental convention in May. I think different conventions are offered different rates. They didn't even require any deposit.

Hello!

I have also booked for Dapper Days, the same week as you I believe. we are staying at the Grand.
I made the reservation online but upon the advice of a dis-er I called and added passes at 'todays' rate. I even added a discounted twilight passes to give me 6 days in the Parks at just about the same price as a 5 day pass.

If you plan to use the pools at the DLH keep in mind they are reporting the pools will stay closed until 'late' Spring.
