Disneyland Hotel or Hojo?

Our new number is exclusively for in-house reservations and will not forward to the national res center. It is only open during our regular hours, and you may encounter longer wait times, but you'll definitely get the right info.

Wow! THIS is customer service! I called and asked for the AAA rate but Kristen (SP?) said that since I was on the DIS boards, I got a 15% discount (rather than just the 10% for AAA). It was easy! Thank you so much!

As for my decision on where to stay, I am sticking with the HOJO! I can't wait to use the 2 room suite and I found out there is a regular pool too (I thought there was just a kid's area and I need a POOL!) Thanks again!

That's great! I think for that rate, you are going to be better off at HoJos! Especially in light of the two pools...we usually stick to the kids pirate sprayarea since there is a nice hot tub there for adults.

My DH will be permenantly stuck at the hot tub :) I told him about this thread and how the HOJO GM came on and told me to call for my discount. He was really impressed. I think he's realizing the benefit of these boards!

Thanks again to everyone for their comments and suggestions - I really appreciate it!!

I wouldn't pay $400 a night for DLH but if I had to choose between DLH and Hojo I would choose DLH everytime. Usually the room goes for just a little over $200 I thought. Maybe I'm wrong. Hojo is nice but I don't like walking on Harbor Blvd.. I don't want to see traffic, congestion, McDonalds, and homeless people when I'm vacationing. I understand the money issue though. We have stayed twice outside the resort in order to feel comfortable about how much we're spending. We've done Hojo, FFI, BWPPI, DLH, and GCH. I personally like FFI better than Hojo if I'm going to stay outside. For us now though we travel so far away and its worth it to stay inside the magic.

Disneyland Hotel. I like staying in the atmosphere of Disney the whole trip. I have stayed at the HoJo and it was good but ever since we started staying on property, I don't want to stay elsewhere. My first choice is the GCH though. $400 a night seems high for the DLH.

OP, I think you made a great choice. Much as I love staying on-site I couldn't pay $400/night for it.

If I'd seen this thread before I'd suggest a split stay of just one night at DLH at either the beginning or the end of your trip to take advantage of the Magic mornings (a weekend night, esp a Saturday would help), and also just to have some time at the fabulous pools at the DLH. We ended up spending many happy hours at the monorail pool on our last trip ... traitor that I am I think its better than the GCH pool. :rolleyes1

Perhaps when special rates come out closer to your visit, it might be worthwhile to think about adding on one night on-site for a special treat for your family.

We've always stayed off-site at Disneyland (at the Tropicana), and have had great experiences. I just don't think that I could justify paying $400 for a night in a hotel that wasn't seriously the top of the line, luxury hotel. Even then, I couldn't do it. All I'm going to be doing there is sleeping and using the potty, you know?

It looks like you've received excellent service from Hojos! Enjoy your stay there.

To echo previous posters, $400 for DLH sounds very high! We just had a two night stay at the GCH during the early part of Thanksgiving week and we only paid ~$250/night!

Can I ask why you are not considering PPH? I have not stayed there myself but made a mental note that it is directly across the street for the GCH for future reference!

I am pricing this out for our Spring Break (last week of March) so it doesn't surprise me the rates are higher. But yes, the DLH room is going for $400/night on the Disney website. That is the standard room and there are no specials for that time frame right now.

I am still going to keep an eye on the rates and any specials!

Yes, I am REALLY impressed with Hojo's service! I like Disney service too, but I don't see their management team online checking the DIS boards and responding to posters! It feels very personable and neighborly - and I like that :thumbsup2

DLH appeals to me. DCA looks ok but is pricier than DLH. PPH didn't really appeal to me. I'm not as concerned about the distances of the hotels as long as we are fairly close. My family walks a lot and I'm a runner (well, only 5 miles per day, but I do put miles on my shoes!) So we enjoy all the exercise and yes, we even like wearing ourselves out - helps us sleep at night
