We may be travelling for our first family trip to DL this November - and would like to stay on-site. It will just be for 3 nights. The Disneyland hotel pool looks great -which would probably be a hit with my daughter, but GC looks beautful and obviously a little close to the parks. Any advice?

If you can afford GCH, it is the better hotel in every way. That's why it is so much more expensive...and, again only if you can afford it, worth it.

I paid to stay at GC and I won a trip and chose to stay at DLH (I could have stayed at GC if I wanted).

Definitely, GC is a closer walk to the parks. DCA is right there, and entering right from the hotel grounds was really nice. It also wasn't nearly as far after leaving DL park.

Still, I guess it was because of the nostalgia factor, but I absolutely loved staying at DLH, and would stay there again over GC. The decor inside felt more "magical" to me, my view was great (although I could see Remember from my window at GC), and i loved taking the monorail into the park. DCA was a bit of a walk (maybe 7 or 8 minutes if you're just "strolling"), but for a WDW vet, any walk from a DL hotel to one of the parks is still shorter than walking to the WDW transportation bus stops at some of the parks (I'm talking to you, Epcot)!.

Also, the pool really is great. One of the best Disney pools I've ever seen. Whichever you choose, have a great time!

I am all about the nostalgia and total Disney magic of the DLH. The GC is beautiful, to be sure and very majestic, but the DLH is so magical. . .my favorite.

We've always stayed at the DH, but decided to try the GC this year. It was beautiful and very convenient. But, I actually prefer the DH. Somehow the "magic" seemed to be missing from the GC. And the DH isn't exactly INconvenient either. Everything is within walking distance. My vote? DH.

DLH is my favorite...don't get me wrong the GCH is great, but if I want to stay in a lodge-style hotel, I go to Jackson Hole.

I stayed at GC last December for Christmas. I loved the convience of getting to the both parks and DTD. I felt like I was staying at WL in WDW. It isn't that much more when I go in September, a difference for a standard room is $122.00 for 2 nights. Well worth it to me, I love that hotel:) No matter what hotel you chose I am sure you'll have a FUntastic tme :cool1:

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel 2 years ago and loved it BUT we just returned from Disneyland and stayed at the Grand Californian this time and we vote for it. :cool1: Yes, it is more expensive but well worth it. We sat out on our balcony and watched the fireworks - talk about MAGICAL! :dance3: So convenient to both parks - if you take the monorail in you miss the entrance and Main Street. :scared1: The music from Downtown Disney floated up to our rooms and it was a blast watching everyone leaving the parks and waiting for the trams to their cars. :rotfl: It doesn't have the pixie dust or Mickey's hand holding stuff up but it is newer and it shows. :yay: Fantastic pools and great pool side bar & food service. White Water Snacks and Story Tellers are great restaurants.
Whatever you decide will be the right choice because you are staying on site.:woohoo:
