Who has stayed here on points that might have information that will help me if I decide to use my vacation club to stay here.

I know the VGC are open and will cost much less in points but I have stayed at the Grand Californian and would like to experience the Disneyland Hotel.

Do they assign your room just as if you are a cash customer?

I understand there is construction going on .... should I request a refurbished room or NOT to be in the tower with the construction?

Suggestions on room requests? Views?

Any and all info is appreciated.......I am off to scour the Disneyland forum now....thanks!!

we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel this past July on points. I booked a standard view room because it was lower in points. However, when I checked in, I asked if there were any rooms available facing the pool area and we were upgraded for nothing extra. it's worth asking!

we had a great room in the Wonder tower which was above a lovely waterfall garden with the pool just behind it. Because of the angle of the tower, we could actually still see the fireworks at night (if we were near the window). We loved our room and location. we had 2 queens and a daybed (which was perfect for one of our kids).

They had not begun renovations in July so I can't comment on which tower would be better.

The rooms have a small refrigerator. I wish we'd bought some breakfast items our first day (there's a market down the street) to save some $$ on food.

We LOVE the Neverland pool and spent every afternoon there. We like this pool better than the one at the Grand Californian.

It was great having the monorail station just outside the hotel. that helped with quick trips in and out of the park.

Now that the villas are open at the GC it will be hard to decide. We like the DL hotel better (mainly because of the pool), but like the idea of having a 1 bedroom villa with a kitchen. we will probably do the GC next time as we want to stay in the villas, but would perfectly happy with the Disneyland Hotel too.
