Disneyland Hotel Cabana

I just called to book a cabana by the pool for a Wednesday morning 9:30 to 1:30 and at the end I was told it was a 6 person max. We have 5 adults, and a 8 and 5 year old. My question is, How strict are they with these rules. I can't imagine they don't let people walk up and sit with you right? the reason we got one is because my husband needs to work and they have couches, shade & internet. The rest of us will come and go and spend 70% of our time at the pool. Anyone else have any experience with this and can offer some advice? This is our first time renting one. Thanks.

I haven't rented a cabana but I would assume if they said 6 they mean 6. Now does that mean one can switch out if someone's in the pool IDK but I bet they will say something if there are more than 6 at a time. Usually with Disney anyone under 2 (or 3 can't remember how long kids are still free) are counted in the total allowed.

I don't know, but our cabana experience at the DLH has always been that the cabana host isn't there often enough to even notice. We saw our maybe twice. You have a server, too ... we saw her more often but like any server, she's working for tips so I doubt would say anything since more people = more food and drink = more tips. The cabana host will be there first thing to show you around then maybe once or twice after that. Maybe don't have 7 first thing. Otherwise I'm not sure they would even notice.

Here's how little attention the cabana host pays: One time I went up to our room to get something and the phone happened to ring. It was our cabana host, wanting to know if we were going to make it that day. We'd already been there over an hour and my family was IN THE CABANA at the time he called!

The main issue, and probably the main reason they say 6, is that it would not be comfortable to have 7 inside the cabana, at least not 7 adults. There are two smallish sofas that will fit 2 adults comfortably or 3 if you're really friendly! There are also two chaise lounges, but those are just outside the cabana. If your husband is trying to work, having 7 people, including 2 kids, could be a challenge unless most of the people are elsewhere alot of the time.

A thread about GCH cabanas had this comment:

Now for a gripe. At least 50% of the cabanas we witnessed were breaking the rules in terms of number of people. One cabana at DLH we witnessed ten different people filtering in and out of all day long. At times it was very overcrowded. One at the GCH had about the same. Granted, the vast amount of seating at GCH invites people to break the rules as there's room for 11 seated, but that's beside the point. I honestly didn't see the cabana hosts (not servers) doing much all day except help move more loungers over to the group exceeding the maximum number of people.

This was our experience with our recent cabana rental. The host introduced herself at the start of our rental, gave us the lay of the land, introduced us to our server for the afternoon and then we saw her just one more time about midway through the rental.

I doubt the server, or anyone else, would say anything if you are slightly over the allotted people. I'm not advocating for you to violate the six person limit but I couldn't see what others were doing in their cabana, how many people they had nor did I care.

This summer we rented 2 cabanas because we had 12. We had 5 kids and 7 adults and had kids in one adults in the other. Nothing was said other than getting permission for kids to order food.

A thread about GCH cabanas had this comment:

I can understand their frustration here. If we had way more adults and planned to party it up we would for sure just get two Cabanas but we have 7 people and the Cabana is mainly for my working husband and a place my pregnant sister in law can rest. No rowdy rude people here. The rest of us will be in the pool or at Trader Sam's.

From the sounds of it, it seems that we will be ok but will totally understand if we at some point are told no can do. Thanks for everyone's help!
