Disneyland Hotel and security checks

Here's something I wondered when I was there last summer...

I stayed in Newport Bay and when I walked to the park in the morning, I had to stand in line at the security check before getting to the Disneyland Hotel so they could search my bag.

Do the Disneyland Hotel guests go through a similar security checkpoint somewhere?

Also, do they get entrance into the park any earlier than we did?

If you are arriving by train then you will need to go through the security check with your luggage if staying at the DLH and yes you will have to open your suitcases. However, if you arrive by car or bus you will arrive at the main entrance and avoid the security check.

All Disney hotel guests can enter the parks at the same time. If you are a guest at the DLH then you do not pass through any security check to enter DLP but you will pass the security check to enter WDS.

do they have a good poke around your suitcase or just ask you to open it? as DLP is rather relaxed on the whole bag thing compared to WDW as they got a stick out and have a good prod in WDW - its was rather funny really the security men always had a joke about the stuff in my bag lol Just wondered about the suitcases tho ...................

We've had both when we've gone through security with suitcases ~ the cursory glance and the more thorough prodding with the stick. I always made sure my undies weren't right on the top ~ imagine if the wind blew them away! :lmao:

I don't see the point in checking the suit cases as your not going to be taking these into the park. You will either go straight to hotel check in or leave them at the baggage pick up.

Oh my god, I knew that Disney had bag checking in operation but didn't realise that if you arrived by Eurostar you would have your suitcase opened and checked!! Hope they don't rumage too much through your clothes, underwear etc!!!

Is the point that they say you can't take food and drink into the park?

Hi Fiona,

You don't get your cases searched if arriving by Eurostar unless you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel itself, or taking your cases to the Park to leave at guest services on your first/last day of your trip.

You are allowed to bring food and soft drinks into the park - the security bag check is for weapons etc, not food.
