Last Wednesday 9/9 around 11:30pm or so as I was leaving the Haunted Mansion 40th event and I noticed a big white ball in the sky behind the castle (looked like a huge light bulb) anyway we asked a cast member what was going on and he said they were testing out some things for the Halloween fireworks. So my guess it was the moon from NBC. So we are standing there looking at the castle and then all of a sudden a white sheet comes floating out on the flying wires we couldn't make it out at first since it wasn't lit up but then all of sudden we recognized the shape and it was .... any guesses before I let the dog out of the bag?

Yep!!!! We tried to get a picture of zero but he disappeared pretty fast and he didn't come back out and we were exhausted from the event so we didn't stick around any longer. My DH might have a picture in his thousands of pics that he took of our vaction of the moon thingy though if so I will post it.

That's really neat that you got to see that!! Not really a spoiler tho, we've been talking about Zero flying for a while now. I haven't mentioned it to DD9 yet, just in case....but she's going to be thrilled when she sees that!! NBC is one of her faves, that kid loves Tim Burton, she is really excited about seeing 9 too.

Oh ok - I didn't see anyone else mention it here so I thought it was new news. But I figured probably other people and of course CM's saw them testing it out so it probably had already leaked just like most of all the D23 big announcements everyone already knew what was going to be said before the execs could even confirm. Anyway still exciting to see Zero in action.

this is probably why the Expo although GREAT was not fantastic to me.Due to my need to be on this message board and find out all i need to know about Disney lol. Almost everything they said I either knew already from the Dis or from the Special DVC meetings they had. So nothing really wowed me per se. So next year what shall they talk about since all the news and plans were over the next 1-up to 4 years away. I wanted some inside scoop.... and i still say the dreamstore stunk.

oops sorry for the hikack lol what does NBC stand for? that was what i originally meant to ask lol

NBC is Nightmare Before Christmas.

Yeah, Diser dogs sniffed that out a while ago - but you are an eye witness so that's still pretty cool .

Zero is what I figured back when I heard there would be a Halloween fireworks show. Zero seems like a good character to seamlessly work into the zip line portion, and is a family friendly relevant character.

Haven't read up on it yet, but I'm assuming there will be test runs of the Halloween show like there were for the Magical show?

here's the picture of the moon thing off to the left.

Oh that looks cool :cool1: I can't wait to see it in October :) thanks for the pic I didn't know the moon would be there. :thumbsup2

More and more reasons to make at least a quick trip in Oct instead of waiting until our Nov trip.

Thanks!

This moon apparatus is likely for Oogie Boogie to make his appearance. At least I hope that's what it's for. In case you can't tell, the family are all BIG fans  .

Did you see how the moon was suspended? Is it hanging from something or is it on a post? Do you know if it is in the castle area? Last question popcorn::, was Zero flying on the zip line or was he being transported on the ground when you saw him?

I'm SO glad I'm a local with an AP. I want to make sure I see this new fireworks show from a good spot. Any ideas where?

The moon was on a black forklift type pole so looks like it can be easily lowered down. I am thinking it's the same type of thing they use to raise maleficent for fantasmic. I saw it as we were exiting the park and it just looked like a huge lightbulb but it wasn't turned on. We were asking the CM (the Haunted Mansion butler in the picture) what it was and he said they were testing out halloween items for the new fireworks show. We were just standing there looking at the moon thing and then this white sheet thing starts flying around on the zip line. Nothing was illuminated so it took us awhile to figure out it was zero. It was on the zip line going around the castle just like dumbo does. The moon thing had to be erected in fantasyland I am assuming as we walked through frontierland and adventureland and it wasn't there. When we first entered the park for the Haunted Mansion 40th event it wasn't set up yet. It was only if you looked back at the castle that you noticed it. Most of our friends didn't even see the moon thing. Also 1/2 of main street was decorated for Christmas with all the decorations so they must have been doing some filming for the upcoming holidays.

THANK YOU!!! I cannot even begin to describe the excitement I feel about our upcoming October trip!!! This little snippet and picture just add to it!:cool1:

BTW, your Disney garden is STUNNING!! Really, really beautiful! Thanks for sharing it, too!:cheer2:

Hey guys, sorry if this has been repeated in other threads; have been over on the WDW threads planning my vaca :cool1:

Anyways, when are they planning on doing a Nightmare fireworks show? My DH and I will hopefully be there the 23-25.
