My oldest DD got her first hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop at WDW. We are So Cal folks and it looks like we won't be able to make it back for DD #2's first hair cut. Is there anywhere near or on Disneyland property that you can think of to help recreate this magic moment? If you think of something I would love to hear your ideas! TIA!

I think that is just more of a WDW thing. Disneyland is just so much smaller and there is no place that I know of around there that cuts hair. At least not in DTD or the parks. I would just go to one of those cute, neighborhood kid haircutting places. I was never really so into the "first haircut" thing, though. I have 3 kids and usually their first haircut was done by me.

I know this is a shot in the dark but it does not hurt to ask. If you know anyone within the Disney company or send a request there is a backstage barbershop for the Castmembers. I don't think you will get backstage but the barber just might find a place to make this possible for you. Disney is in the business of selling happiness.

There's a salon at the Grand Californian Hotel. That would be the closest thing to continuing the family tradition. I don't have any details or experience with them but it might be worth a call :goodvibes

what about a special hair style at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

Edited to add: Argh... only for ages 3 and up. Sorry!

That's what I was thinking too so I called them for her, but no dice. They were really adamant about it too, I even explained the whole family tradition thing and the guy on the "style line" didn't care.

What a bummer. I think the Grand Californian Spa or Disneyland Hotel is a cool idea too though. Good luck!

Actually, if you talk to the FGM, they will tell you 3 is like a recommendation, they will take kids that are 2 if they can sit still. :)

While they still do exist at the Walt Disney World Resort, the Cast Salons at the Disneyland Resort have been closed for many, many years now.

Also, in accordance with State of California regulations regarding barbering and cosmetology licencing, Cast Members at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Disneyland Park or Studio Disney 365 in the Downtown Disney District are unable to offer hairstyling options other than those advertised.
