Disneyland good neighbor hotels

Hi hubby and I are coming to LA prir to our cruise with RCI to the Panama Canal. We are doing 2 nights in San Deigo and will do the Wild Animal park then come to Al and spend the night prior ro our cruise. We did DLH after our cruise this year so I think we just want a hotel close to DTD with a decent pool and free breakfast that has trasnport to DTD or walking Distance.

Many of the Good Neighbor hotels are within walking distance. We loved Carousel Inn, which had a small pool, and a free breakfast, but the best thing was it was right across the street from the entrance to the park!

Also nearby is Best Western Park Place.

Howard Johnson's is a great place, 2 pools, more of a hotel type feel, but they do not have free breakfast. Nearby is Mimi's Cafe which has great food!

We like HoJo's and also the Ramada Inn Maingate. They are both a bit farther than some of the others right accross the street at the cross walk, but we did not have a problem with either walk.

The Ramada had a fridge and microwave which was nice.

We loved the Camelot, the pool is small but you can watch the park fireworks from it, the free breakfast is simple (danish, juice, muffins, 3 cereals, milk) and it's a crossed the street so easy walking distance to the parks, and near IHOP and Mimi's for food. If you get the right rooms you can also watch the fireworks from them to.

all of these hotels are on S Harbor if i'm not mistaken which are not the closest to DTD. you'd have to walk across S Harbor, past all the transportation lots, through the central plaza area to DTD.

i'm pretty sure there are closer hotels to DTD. isn't anabella one of them for example?

and actually, BWPPI is directly across from the pedestrian gate (when you consider the crosswalk is on its side). Tropicana is next it and Carousel is next to Tropicana if I'm not mistaken.

Carousel has a rooftop pool which has access to viewing the fireworks, but i've also heard the mickey & friends parking structure has an excellent view as well.
