I am planning a trip this June to Disneyland with husband and two kids. I need a very affordable place to stay and preferably within walking distance to Disneyland. Don't want to spend a lot, because we are also going to San Diego and Phonix, AZ. I would love to be able to see the fireworks from the hotel.

Call hojos and see if they have the ent. card rate. I got it in June for $69. per night with a park view.

Just went to entertianmentbook.com and bought the book for my area.

Even though it's not across the street the motel 6 (1066 on their website) is fairly close, you can always take the art and it's about $62 a night if you reserve online. I've stayed there twice and found it clean & the staff was friendly. Have a great trip!

We arrive July 8 for 6 nights and got Motel 6 on W. Disney Way for $300 total.
Different from other Motel 6's we've stayed at as it has queen beds and slightly bigger rooms.
Use their internet rate.
And it is a Good Neighbor Hotel according to the Disney website.

Whatever you do, DO NOT stay in the Castle Inn Suites. It's cheap (like $55 a night in December), but it's a dump. Literally sicking. It's a very short walk to DL, and very close to all the restaraunts, though. If you really don't care, then this is about as cheap as they come, but it's really nasty.

We like the Tropicana, just stayed there a few weeks ago, and it was very nice. I've also heard good things about the Carousel Inn and Best Western Park Place Inn.

I second a no on the Castle Inn. Had a horrible experience there a few years ago too.

We sayed there last week and i found it dirty and our room smelled very bad. We did call the front desk and after being told someone would be up, we gave up waiting and went to bed. Of course as soon as i fell asleep, someone came up. By then the room smelled like aloe, shampoo and everything else. They said they would check it out the next day while we were at the park. When we returned, the smell was gone. The carpets were very stained and the bedspreads were dirty and had burn holes in them. The pool and hot tub were nice. Would not stay there again.

You might take a look at Anaheim Camelot Inn. It is just across the street from the entrance to DL and I believe you can see the fireworks from the roof pool.

Personally, there is nothing like seeing the fireworks from Main Street in the park though.

We have stayed at both and would recommend them to all, Carousel has slightly bigger rooms, better breakfast and in room facilities, Tropicanna has the better pool and hot tub (no tub at the CI). Both very close, have heard good things about BWPPI we would certainly consider that next trip too.

Hi!
I am going on a DCL to the Mexican Riviera next summer. I am thinking about taking my daughter to DL before the cruise. Does anyone know anything about the Candy Cane Inn?

Thanks!

This hotel has a pretty loyal fan base and I have not stayed at the hotel but we did have friends stay there while we stayed at one of the closer hotels. Have to stay that we both thought it was overated and not up to the hype some have given it. It does have the best grounds of any of the hotels we saw, but the rooms are small if you are travelling as a family with two or more children, the pool is very small, it is a Motel with the rooms opening onto the carpark so can be a bit noisey and it is over twice the walking distance of the Hotels across the road from DL but they do have their own dedicated shuttle. It certainly isn't a bad Motel, its just IMO there are cheaper, better, closer ones...

I've never been able to find a good rate for the Candy Cane Inn.

Hojo's has a great pool for kids, but the walk is a bit further than some of the Good Neighbors.

I've stayed at Camelot and it was just fine, plus had a cont. breakfast.

Going to try Carousel next as it had the best rate for the walkable hotels (but I'm still paying almost $100 a night -- I'm obviously not doing something right!!!!)

We've stayed there everytime we've gone to DL in the last 6 years. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are very nice, the beds are very comfortable. The free continental breakfast is very nice and the free shuttle is comfortable and convenient. You can walk to and from the park and not have to cross Harbor Blvd. which is also nice. It has a pool and jacuzzi, but we usually go in the winter so it's too cool for us. We really enjoy staying here. The only fault I have is that if we happen to go back to the hotel early, the fireworks reverberate very loudly since the hotel is in a U shape. :)
