Quick question....
is there anywhere in the parks where they don't accept the giftcards (not sure what else to call them) as a form of payment? I remember someone I was with wasn't able to use it at the ice cream cart that sold the mickey ice creams, frozen bananas, etc. but is there anywhere else that doesn't accept them?

I'm thinking it would be a safer way to spend money in DLR, in case I lost it, it's not like it's my credit card or anything! & It will help me limit my spending, and sometimes I need all the help I can get! (especially at DLR!) :rotfl:
Thanks!

There's the occasional place that doesn't accept them, but most do. If you have Chase, they have ATMs in the parks and DTD, so if you need cash it's there. Otherwise I'd carry some cash (b/c the places that don't accept GCs might not accept any cards), have your debit/credit card with you for the non-Disney-owned places if you want to buy stuff there, but have the bulk on GCs.

And you can even split up your gift certs by buying several, or buying one every morning or so, so you don't have one HUGE GC that you worry about.

Good question.

I've been stashing aside gift cards like a fiend for the last few months - it's a great way to set aside dedicated Disney money that cannot be used on anything else.

When I went to DLR last year (I think it was my October trip), I used the remaining balance on a gift card to buy some yummy pineapple spears and juice at the cart on Main Street. I asked the CM at the cart if gift cards were accepted, and he said yes. He said they accepted "any form of plastic" (such as gift cards, credit cards, debit cards and maybe even Disney Visa Rewards cards) - BUT he said they did not accept the AP for discounts there.

However, since I have been accumulating gift cards this year, I think I read in some fine print somewhere on the Gift Card website that they are not accepted at Taste Pilots Grill or the outdoor vendor carts!??

I could be wrong on that info. Or maybe they have changed it since I read it. But I remember thinking, "But they just took my gift card at a cart last year. When did that stop?"

So I'm not sure if they changed their policy and maybe now they don't take the gift cards at carts, or maybe they only accept them at certain outdoor carts but not others? And why would Taste Pilots Grill be excluded from gift card use if, say, somewhere like Bengal BBQ or River Belle Terrace accepts them? That makes no sense to me!!

Thanks for the replies!
that is weird Sherry, about TPG and the carts...
I like the idea of having several cards with smaller balances on them as opposed to one huge amount on one card.
i will have to think about whether i will use a gift card or just rely on cash and my visa..
(The gift cards are so cute though!! lol)
