Disneyland food....went down the tubes!!!

ANyone know what happened to the pasta salad that was served with the monte cristo before? We were served a side of nasty!!!

When we were there in April, the two restaurants we enjoyed the most were the Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA and the Rancho del Zocalo. We kept ending up at the latter because we were trying to get a seat at the Golden Horseshoe and never managed to get there in time to find one. The Blue Ribbon was terrific for a quick snack. We had over all decent food, although it really doesn't compare to the food in WDW. Everyone in my family is clammering to return to the Pacific Wharf on our upcoming trip.

I was planning on going to the BB as well. It was closed when we were there before, and I was really looking forward to taking my family there, I haven't been since I was young. Is it really so bad that I shouldn't bother?

Well for what it is worth, I was at Disneyland this last weekend and was not at all disappointed in the food. One of our meals did include the Blue Bayou. I was a little apprehensive about eating there given all the bad reviews I've been reading, but I gave it a shot all the same I truly do love the experience of eating in there (ambiance does count for something!). I found the portions large (I couldn't eat all my jambalaya) and the service was great. I'll definitely be going back again.

My son and I stopped at the Weiner spot in DCA. We paid $6 each for luke warm dogs and cold fries. Then you add on the $6 for 2 drinks.
I was NOT happy.

Had a preztel Mon night next to the Orange swing..nice fresh and hot. :thumbsup 2 w/drinks $13
2 days later at the one near Tommorow Land...Same prices, stale & hard!:thumbsdown

Nestle's Icecream in Fairytale theater $3 or $3.50 each...Old and sticky from freezer burn.

2 Hamburgers,fries frozen lemonaide & 1 refillable mug at GCH White water shack $28 (Wish I knew about the refillable drinks sooner!)
Bun was stiff and burgers was drier than any BBQ I have been too!(Huge disapointment!

IHOP $25 with tip Large portions, HOT food...Ya!

Hotel delivery--Domanoes...$15 w/tip large single topping...Blah but was hot and better than other food to this point.

Hotel delery--Round table...$17 now we are talking! They also had Pepsi $1.49 2ltr and offered plates,napkins, forks AND cups for no additional charge.

But the best meal was when my brother showed up and took us off site to Denny's...I was surprised because I usually don't do Denny's etc. Hot food, large portions and huge drinks!

I was going to do one of the character meals, but from our luck with food this trip, I did NOT want to pay out $75 for food that is just "so so". I may try it next time.

I did discover that the Hotel gift shop sold the same drinks as the vending machine 20ft away for .25 less a bottle.

So for quality, it all comes down to who is in charge that day and if the cast members are trained in basic food handeling practices. I would be very interested in seeing their food handler cards.

My family eats at BB every time we visit! We have always had superb service and the food has been great! It is a bit pricey, but well worth it!!!
It is one meal that we let the younger kids eat off the adult menu... just a better selection. two kids get one meal to share and there is always enough!

I went to Cali specifically to visit DL after being to WDW 30-40 times. I wanted to compare the two & just spend a couple of days away from the kids & family.

I arrived before opening on November 10th and by the times the gates opened there were lines like I've never seen in WDW ....just waiting to get in. I did Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain & Pooh before heading off & doing Peter Pan & Small World. I grabbed a fast past for Buzz & realized I was starving. So while I was there I grabbed a burger & fries and sat and watched the Jedi training! Very cute.

The park was so unbelievably crowded at this point that a lot of the fun was quickly disappearing so I decided to head out & come back later. Upon leaving I noticed there had to be at least 50 people in line for just strollers...not to mention the line to get passes!! Craziness.

Well I never made it back. It seems my burger didn't go down so well ...to put it bluntly ..for the duration of my trip I suffered from food poisoning. Eventually, going to the ER the next day. As the burger & fries were all I had eaten that day it didn't take much to figure out where it came from.

I had been looking for other options in DL but as many have stated they just don't have the options that WDW does. The cost for this meal? $11 plus change. The end cost? Plenty, as I never got to CA, nor back into DL. On my last day I was able to handle some brief shopping at DD but that was it.

I later heard the parks were overwhelmingly crowded as there was no school that day due to Veteran's Day & the one day free hoppers a lot of people had received that were due to expire.

My overall take on DL though is that it truly lacks the "magic" of WDW. Things are much closer together but I'll walk instead of being elbow to elbow anytime!

I completely disagree that the food is going down the tubes. I think it's steadily getting better (or at least staying consistant). At least the counter service and quick service places are (I never eat sit-down) better than they used to be (the ones I frequent anyway). Granted, there are places I never eat--Village Haus and Hungry Bear being two of them. I've never had a decent French fry from Hungery Bear.

After just visiting in October, I completely agree.

All the food we had, both counter service and quick service, was really GOOD! We never had a bad meal or snack during our entire trip this go around.

However, on this trip we didn't eat at two of the places we normally always eat at, Village Haus and Hungry Bear. We now realize that these two places have yucky food compared to the other counter services places, and we'll most likely never eat at either again. We're gonna stick with the places that have GOOD food. No more Village Haus or Hungry Bear for us.

I totally agree with you. We always do lunch at the Blue Bayou when we visit, but after our lunch in September, we'll probably pass the next time we're in the park. We had lunch at the BB in December 2005 and it was great. The food was excellent, service was good, and the prices were reasonable for what you received. When I saw the menu in September, I thought we got the dinner menu because the prices were between $4-6 higher per entree than they were 7 months earlier. The Monte Cristo was still pretty good, but the $25 pork chop was so so. I think we're going to wait to see if they change the menu again before we go back.

There is a snack place close to the swimming pool at the Grand Californian Hotel. It's called White Water Snacks and their food is basically self-serve/cafeteria style. They have hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, pizza, etc. that you order at the registers. However, right when you walk in you can grab a tray and some sodas, chips, pretzels and desserts first and just pay at the registers when you place your order. Their sodas are refillable as long as you eat there.

My boyfriend and I eat there all the time and we love how we can have endless refills of soda!
