Disneyland Food Opinions

The Alfresco wine tasting terrace could be a alternative to the cove bar for lunch in DCA. They have wine and appetizers. You could also try the cozy cones for snacks or the paradise garden grill for a lighter lunch. These places don't see the long lines the cove bar often has.

There is also white water snacks in the grand Californian (they have casual but tasty food and you can sit outside right adjacent to DCA and use the special exit from DCA as well). If you want something a little classier look into hearthstone lounge or Napa rose lounge, both are yummy and in the beautiful grand Californian.

The Alfresco Wine Tasting Terrace looks so relaxing, that is definitely n option. I did hear nice things about Whitewater Snacks too. Have you tried Flo's V8 Cafe?

I had compiled a list of snacks that I wanted to try for my last trip, I got to some of them but missed a lot of them:

1. Mickey Beignets - DLR Julep Bar or Cafe Orleans - didn't try :(
2. Everything at DLR Jolly Holiday Bakery - ended up getting the Matterhorn Macaroon (Italian), Mickey Raspberry (French) Macarons, Spice Bundt Cake, and the Chocolate Mousse Brownie. Surprisingly the Matterhorn Macaroon was my favorite of the bunch, but they were all quite good.
3. Cookies and Cream Churro (good!) and Salted Caramel Churro (meh) - DTD Churro Cart.
4. Bacon Mac and Cheese Cone - DCA Cozy Cone. It was OK, not as good as I thought it would be IMO. The Chili "Cone" Queso looked interesting though, want to try it next time.
5. Churro Funnel Cake with ice cream - DCA Cozy Cone. Didn't try.
6. Corn Dogs - esp. Hot link corn dog. Didn't try.
7. Pickle popcorn - Cozy Cone. Didn't try
8. Dole Whip of course
9. Pomme Frites with Cajun Remoulade - Cafe Orleans, didn't try.

I didn't go to Cafe Orleans, but did go to Blue Bayou which I thought was good. Can't beat the ambiance. I had the Slow Roasted Beef Strip Loin, which was pretty good, much better than expected. I really liked the potatoes it came with. Wife had the lamb chops, also good. Overall I liked it and would go again.

That is basically everything on my list too! Definitely mickey beignets, matterhorn macaroons, a churro, corn dog, fries, and dole whips. I love trying everything

I really like the veggie sandwich at award wieners in DCA.

Good snack is at Bengal BBQ in DL.

I like plaza inn and French market in DL.

I like Boardwalk pizza & pasta in DCA.

With 2 days I wouldn't do any sit down meals myself.

I agree. Park hopping is really good at dlr.

So you wouldn't even sit for lunch at Cafe Orleans or chicken at Plaza Inn?

Consider the park hopper. You can add it later if you like, but then you have to wait in the line at the ticket booth again. I always end up regretting not having a park hopper when I don't have one. Yesterday, I went to DCA with plans of staying in that one park. When I did everything that I wanted to do (that didn't have a 45 min wait), I ended up at DL where I was able to get on very popular rides with very little wait time and had a good meal over there, too. You just never know what the crowds will be like or which rides will be down. It's nice to have the option to hop over to more choices.

I definitely can see the pros of it. If anything, I think I want to spend a full day in DL (I know I could, I really want to explore and shop too), but I can see myself park hopping on the DCA day in case I missed anything at DL. I could spend days at the MK in WDW without going to any other parks, so I really want to soke in DL. If you buy a 2 day ticket, can you add just a 1 day park hopper?

For a very cool DL experience, head over to DCA and do Flo's V-8 Cafe. While it's considered counter service, it has some pretty good food there. And if you go the right side of it, you can have a view of Ornament Valley/Radiator Springs Racers. it's really really cool. Like being in the movie! You can get in and get out really fast. Plus the milk shakes are really good. It's one of the few spots to eat at DL that I feel has the character of all those WDW places to eat.

Just get the park hopper; it is the same price for 1 or 2 (or 3,4,5) days. That way you don't have to think about what if.....and if it gets very crowded at DL you can just pop over to DCA and check a few things out. The flexibility is what is key!
As far as food....Plaza Inn (fried chicken) is not table service. Paradise Garden Grill in DCA is really, really good....mediterranean skewers, rice pilaf, cucumber salad, pita bread.....and the area is nice and relaxing.

We have. Their milkshakes are good, but the rest of the food is theme park-y (as opposed to places with healthier, better quality food). The best part of Flo's is the back patio where you can watch RSR and since it is counter service you can take snacks from the Cozy Cones over to the tables and eat there.

I definitely think it's worth scheduling the food/meals you want to eat. It's nice to take a break and refresh and an hour a day out of your schedule to sit and eat isn't much overall. If you are eating somewhere like the Plaza Inn you can time it with waiting for a parade to start so you don't feel like you are "wasting" time.

We definitely need a break. We plan on going at RD, so we'll definitely need a break to rest our feet. Do you have to make reservations for Plaza Inn? I thought because it was counter service, you wouldn't need to, but on their website they have reservations.

Is it really the same price? When we calculated it, it was like $40 more? I'l have to check out Paradise Garden Grill...I haven't seen that yet.

Thank you, the theming of Flo's looks just incredible. I really enjoyed Cars, so I am excited for Cars Land in general!

Plaza Inn has the Minnie and Friends character breakfast in the morning so that's what the reservations are for. No reservations for lunch and dinner as it turns into CS for those meals. Another hint about the Plaza Inn is you can substitute items on the Chicken Plate and also get single items a la carte (like an extra biscuit or drumstick, etc.). It's great if you're sharing the meal which is totally doable as it is quite a bit of food.

Parks hoppers are more expensive than one park per day tickets. I think the pp was saying you cannot buy park hoppers for just one day if you are purchasing a 2 day ticket. You either get a park hopper ticket or not. (Unless you were to buy one single park ticket and one park hopper ticket in which case you'd shell out much more money overall- much more cost effective just to buy the 2 day park hopper).

We also ate at the Wine Country Trattoria and the food was really good but the service was awful! The people sitting next to us said they had to wait 20 minutes for ice. We almost walked out.
As for Flos, cute place but the food was just okay. I think the shakes are way better at haagen dasz in Downtown Disney.

You can use the one day and then add the park hopper at the end of the day or early in the morning. It will cost $40 per person no matter how many days you have. So adding park hoppers advantageous for both days. If you are going to pay for it, you might as well use it.

That's really annoying that you cant buy just 1 park hopper. But I understand now, thank you for the info.

That makes a lot more sense now, but i would definitely get more biscuits now that i know that...

I can definitely see myself using it on the DCA day, but my day in DL, I know I wouldn't use it.
