Going to Disneyland 7/4-7/8 and staying at Grand Californian using DVC points. Our requested room has a view of the park. Does anyone know if we will be able to see the fireworks from our room?

I've only been there once, never stayed at the hotel, but the orientation just doesn't seem correct for fireworks viewing. Perhaps posting this over in the DL thread would help with some answers too.

The park view refered to is Disney's California Adventure, not Disneyland. If you are in the resort, looking straight at DCA, then DL is off to your left. So if you had any hope at all of seeing any fireworks, your room would have to be angled more towards the left. If it is straight on to DCA or angled right, then I would say you won't see any.

We stayed at The Grand Californian almost a year ago. The park view will be of DCA, as mentioned above. We had a DTD view room, one of the upper floors, and we were able to see the Disneyland fireworks. If the wind was right and we listened closely, we could make out the music as well. You won't be able to see Tinkerbell... and she does a LOT more at DL than at WDW MK. :tinker:

If you want to see the Disneyland fireworks... you need a Downtown Disney view, upper floor. pixiedust:

If you have one of the rooms over the World of Disney store you should be able to see fireworks. But a lot of the fireworks and other effects are pretty low level, so I'm not sure how much you will be able to see.

We have stayed here you have to pay extra for a park veiw depends on which park they are facing. When you call ask if they can guar this for you.

Have a wonderful time   party: party: party:

What more does Tink do at DL from WDW and how is it different?

The harness she wears allows het to "circle" around the castle, and move back and forth. She also appears twice, rather than just once. It really is a neat thing to see.

As msteddom said, Tink does more "flying" at DL. At MK, Tink makes a one-way trip down from the top of the castle to the area over the Noodle Station. At DL, the castle isn't anywhere near the highest point. I think Tink's flight path goes from the Matterhorn (on your right facing the castle) to a big fake tree/pole that will be to the left of the castle. She does show up more than once in the show.

As for her equipment... Instead of a single zip-line, there are a couple of lines that her "gear" moves backwards and forwards on. So imagine, this piece of equipment moves horizontally, left and right. Within this piece of equipment, Tink is on a harness that moves up and down. The distance she moves vertically varies throughout her flight. So with the right use of up/down/left/right, Tink flys in circles and back and forth and up and down... more like she would do at the beginning of the Disney TV shows way back when. It also makes it appear as if she is interacting with the fireworks.

All in all, it is a cool effect... the fireworks, the music, this crazy little fairy flying all over the place. :thumbsup2

The best 4th of July fireworks show I have ever seen was at Disneyland when we spent the 4th there in 2003. My kids were only 1 and 3 at the time, but they enjoyed it enough to keep them up - it was truly amazing. We are a military family and the extra salute to the military that year brought tears to our eyes!

ENJOY!

Hi,

If you want fireworks view from the Grand Californian, then you need to get a Downtown Disney View...not a park view (which is a view of DCA, and some of those views are questionable)

Downtown Disney views are the best, IMHO. We go alot, I am an annual passholder and it is great to be able to see the fireworks from your room and sometimes if you are lucky, even while lying in bed.

So, if seeing the fireworks is important, then change your view. If it is not, then the park view is nice too, but has some questionable views as well in that category (ie: park and parking lot view counts as park view)

Let me know if you have any other questions about the resort. I am happy to help.

Michelle
