Disneyland Express to LAX

We leave Tuesday morning for our first DL trip! Thanks to everyone that's helped me plan our trip.

Hopefully this is my last question -- Our flight back home leaves LAX at 1:00 Sunday afternoon. If we're using Disneyland Express, what time do you think should we leave GCH? We should try to get to LAX by 11?? Is there a better choice for the return trip to LAX than DE? I'm the type that's always afraid of missing a flight.

Do we need to be at LAX 2 hours before our flight? Is 1 hour from GCH to LAX allowing enough time to get to the airport? Our flight leaves at 1:00, so leave GCH at 10:00??? Or earlier?

Good question. In our case for being an international flight we need to be even 3-4hrs before the plane goes out. But I believe that it is better to be earlier in the airport, from what I think that it is better 2hr before the exit of your plane.

We had an approx. 1:00 p.m. return flight out of LAX when we went mid-June (it was a Thursday), and we caught the 10:00 Disneyland Express bus from DLH and arrived in decent time. I wouldn't catch a later bus than that.

My experience at LAX is that when you're dropped at your terminal/airline area by the driver, you don't have far to go. You do whatever you need to do at the ticketing area (if you're flying Alaska, you haul your bags over to the bag people, which is an interesting experience but it's nice to be able to say "that's a toy" when your kid's musket shows up on their powerful xray right there, LOL), then find the line for security. I've had one LONG line through security (interestingly, the following week, NCIS LA had a scene shot in what looked like that area of LAX, so I wonder if it was b/c of shooting the show), and the rest have been decent, OK waits.

I've heard that LAX is simple for a traveler being dropped off or picked up. But it's hard for someone dropping off or picking up. And that's been my experience! I find it to be very simple and straightforward.

And I would leave at 10 at the LATEST. And that's only if I were leaving from the DLH; if there were more stops to make at hotels, I'd leave earlier.

The one time we rented a car, I timed us all so so so very wrong and we encountered so many problems (my fault as well) that we hit the gate 5 minutes before scheduled departure. And that involved us running after security (with TSA peoples' blessing, they knew how late we were running). Thankfully the flight was delayed (didn't know that).

We were before and after that "arrive 2 hours before" people...

We're leaving from the GCH. How do I find out how many more stops will be after us?

If it goes normally, you'd stop at DLH after. In our case staying at the Grand we actually left directly from the Grand, which was odd. Basically, DLH is the waypoint...so they usually stop there first on the way to the hotels, and they usually stop their last on the way to the airport. Some people have had very abnormal experiences with the buses, but our experiences have been either normal or at least not detrimental to us, LOL.
