so my family and i got back from florida sunday and wish to go to california in may of 2010 we have never been. we have only experienced disney world and my question is for those of you who have been to both parks which park do you prefer; is disneyland any good, just as magical? tell me what you think :)

I think it's just as cool, but it's definitely a lot smaller. It's has the classic Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure so if you haven't been there before these parks will be fresh and new. Of course it's going to be magical, it's Disney!
I personally prefer Walt Disney World more because well, I'm closer too it and it's much bigger but Disneyland is just as fun. Hope you guys will enjoy your trip. :)

I went in 2003... I loved it. Liked it better than WDW... but that's probably because I go to WDW all the time and have only been to DLR once ;)

I live an hour and a half away and I have a pass therefore i go all the time :)
it's just as fun as WDW! Its just smaller, definately just as fun though.

Ive never been to WDW that I can decently remember, but I went to DLR last year, I loved it.

Its so magical, mainstreet is just breathtaking (is it in WDW too? or is it like...trash infested?) the lights at night are soo beautiful, i cried. YES. Thats saying A LOT for me.

I dont know, but theres this vibe, Walt loved it so much he even had an apartment in there. Its like, you can seriously feel this tingling magic, because Walt was actually alive when it was built, and it was his idea, I mean WDW was too, but he died before that was opened.

I dont know. I cant really talk can I?

I love DL though.

Ive been twice and ive been to WDW once I like it alot more than WDW its just more i dont know theres something about it that makes it just so magical. I'm going next year in 2009 and i'm just so excited to go back. I also love California Adventure I know for my mom CA reminds her of her childhood

I've never been to WDW.
I looooooooove DLR.
I'd say it's as magical as WDW, but... I couldn't... because I've never been to WDW, lol.
But it's VERY magical.

I promise, there's no trash infestation in any part of WDW:upsidedow

I've been to WDW probably around 15 times, and WDL once.
I think they're both equally fun, but there's WAY less to do there.
Me and my dad went for 5 days so that we could be mellow and go slow, and by day 2.5 we'd covered everything, and had time to go on every ride twice or more.

Well, I've only been to WDW once and DL three times (ok, two that I can remember), but my personal favorite park is Disneyland. Every bit as magical, if not more so.

Of course, both are amazing. You can't really go wrong with either. It does have many things that WDW does not, and some parts are better (in my opinion).

Of course, the entire California park is unique to DL, and much under-rated I think. Grizzly river rapids is very fun, and California Screamin' is a blast! I like the theming too, though this park is still going to go through many updates, additions and changes.
In DL, of course you will get the Matterhorn, and I think that the pirates ride is much better in DL. The castle is much smaller, and you should be prepaired for it.
Here is a full list of things unique to DL - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=802084

Of course, there is also the added bonus of being able to walk to the parks if you stay on site or offsite but across the street (7-10 mins walk, generally).

Hope you have a great time when you go!

I've never been there before.
I wish i could.
xoxo

I just got back from Disneyland a few weeks ago. It was awesome. Yes it was smaller, but it had a lot of things that they don't have in Disney World. I had a great time. We where there a week and stayed on property. Everythings in walking distance so no buses. But they do have a monorail.
You can PM me if you have any questions!

I don't remember ever going to DLR because I was 3 but I am always reminded that I was potty trained there...lol:rotfl2:

i'm proboly a little biased but i love Disneyland sooo much better.

I've gone proboly 20 or 30 times and i see something new everytime!

If you stay onsite i suggest the Grand Californian...

Its AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
I've only stayed on site once and it was there. We had a view of the tower of terror Which I loved. :lovestruc

If you stay off-site stay at an ebassy suite. And i tottaly spelt that wrong...

I love disneyland so much better then DW but I'm trying to convince family to go ot DW this summer.

If you stay for a week you will still have stuff to do! For some reason it seemed at DW you could finish it all in 3 days...Or maybe that was just my speedy family.

Anywho DLR is AMAZING...

you must eat at the Blue Bayou and ask for a water side table. :]
