Disneyland Event Questions ???

Hi everyone! :)

I actually consider Disneyland to be my "home" park, but since I only live close enough to go once or twice a year, I think I might be a little out of the loop with some of the event info...

I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with :)

1) Does anyone know how long Captain EO will be around? I know it says "limited engagement" but I'm going Sept. 21-27 and didn't know if it would still be playing then (I hope so! ;)). :3dglasses
2) Has anyone heard how long World of Color will be showing?? Is it only going to be part of Summer Nightastic or do you think they will keep it going thru the end of the year? Again curious about dates at the end of Sept.
3) Has anyone heard when the Haunted Mansion NBC overlay will open this year? I got a brochure from DL with tips for my upcoming trip that included HM overlay and the Space Mtn overlay but I wasn't sure if that was actually accurate...

Thanks so much for any help in advance!!! :thanks:

1. Captain EO has never had exact dates attached to it. I think "limited engagement" is Disney's way to say, "Depending upon demand, it could be here a long time or not long at all. Come see it!"

2. Again, Disney has not been specific about this. I personally believe it will be around for a long time (possibly weekends only during slower times), considering how much they put into creating it.

3. I believe HM overlay usually opens around mid-September. Someone will know more specifically from past history and post.

Hope this helps,
Dreams :goodvibes

I don't know about the other two, but HalloweenTime dates have been released. September 17th is the official start date of the season this year, which means all the decorations, overlays, etc will be up and running by then.

I would be shocked if EO is not playing in September. It re-opened in February. It apparently has been drawing reasonable crowds - a lot more than the tired HISTA. And I doubt Disney would close it without a replacement ready at hand - of which zero rumors exist. I feel certain EO will be around at least a year so it can make it through the Holiday period and hit each high season for people who go seasonally.

Further, WDW Epcot and Tokyo Disney are bringing EO there too. It all sounds to me that will something that will be around for a couple years.

As Dreams said, it will be awhile. I think the price tag on WOC was $80 million. A fountain show of some kind will be playing in the Paradise Pier Lagoon for another 10-20 years. Because WOC is all based on programmable elements like fountains and lights, Disney will have a lot more flexibility to change the show. Expect to see WOC for a number of years and then maybe a changeover to a new show when interest eventually dies down.

Disney Dreams, MattsPrincess, HydroGuy...

You guys are amazing!! :worship:

Thank you all so much! The info helps so much, and being that I'm a planner (and a worrier ;)), I'm thrilled to have some of the event info in place.

MattsPrincess - I totally missed the Halloween dates being posted, so thank you so much for that info especially :thumbsup2

Fantasmic is still going strong nearly 20 years later... I expect the same for WOC, as I am sure the Disney Execs are.

Yah, who knew F! would still be around after 20 years? Plus, as I said, WOC will be easier to change - bring in new fountain elements, music, etc., than Fantasmic. They can keep WOC fresher. Plus, since it is all programmable, they can offer different shows on different nights - or seasonally. WOC goes away for a few years in place of WOC #2, then they bring back the beloved WOC original. It will be there for 20 years or more. :woohoo:
