I really like the convenience of having park tickets on our Key to the World cards. This will be our first DVC trip on points to a Disney park. When we buy our Disneyland tickets, can we have them added to our KTTW cards? Or do you have to buy a package to do that? is this something Guest Services can do?

Anything else we should be aware of when buying tickets? I've debated buying them in advance through some place like aRes Travel to save a couple bucks, but we may just wait until we get there.

I'm not sure how it is now, but when we went a few years ago, DL was rather unwieldly in its process. Our room key was only a room key. We couldn't use it for charging to our room and were given a slip of paper that allowed us to charge to the room. We could not put our tickets on it either. AND, we could not check in before 3PM when we arrived at 1PM.

Some of those may have changed since then, but I'm not sure.

Well that's kind of a bummer. I figured it might not be an option since I can't really find any information on it anywhere, but I thought I'd ask around. The charging privileges thing is a bit of a surprise, though, since I'd heard you could do that. Maybe they were having computer issues when you checked in?

The early check-in issue I'm plenty familiar with, since most hotels are the same way. We'll be getting into Long Beach about 10AM, so we're planning to just leave our stuff at Bell Services (or in the rental car) and head into Disneyland. We figure we'll be in about 11:30 or so, and we'll just spend the day checking out some of the shows and stuff we wouldn't otherwise "waste" time seeing.

We stayed at VGC this past April and your hotel key can be used for charging in the parks, but not in Downtown Disney. Park passes are separate and are not attached to the room key. You need both. Also many ask for DVC Membership Card for DVC discount, but almost every restaurant and shop give a DVC discount.

I've gone to DL several times, last time being last September and going again in 3 weeks! :cool1:

I believe tickets are separate even with a package. It's been awhile since I've had a package and they actually mailed me the ticket before hand. I got the Deluxe AP with the DVC discount my last few trips, so that was separate.

You can charge to your room key, same as WDW.

We once checked in at VGC at 7:00am and our room was ready before noon. Last time we got there around noon, were able to check-in and our room was ready by 3:00. We got a text with the room #. That works the same as WDW.

As the above poster said, there is a DVC discount on almost all food & purchases, which is better than WDW. 10% I believe.

Thanks, everyone! I downloaded Portable Perks to my phone as a reminder while we're there. There's even a 10$ discount at Earl of Sandwich! :thumbsup2

It's a bummer that things aren't better integrated at Disneyland, but I'm sure it'll be a great trip. It's just making me more excited for NEXT September when we go back to WDW. So many things to look forward to that have changed or are new since 2011. And I'm really excited to try out MagicBands!
