It doesn't always happen, but I love it when it does! I learned something new on my trip last weekend!

I was at the Market House counter ordering a hot chocolate and there was a woman right next to me ordering. She said "I'll have the Robitussin please". I looked at her, then I looked up at the menu again. I thought she was ordering some new kind of coffee drink. Then, the cast member went to a cabinet on the back wall, opened it, and it was full of all kinds of drugs and medicines! I turned to her and said "I've been coming here for years and I didn't know they sold all that medicine here!" She said she didn't know either, until she went to the first aid station and they sent her to the Market House to buy Robitussin. So good news...you may not have to leave the park if you happen to need any kind of over the counter type of meds! Check the Market House first! :thumbsup2

Yup...most of the stores in the park have over the counter medications and stuff...well, under the counter. Got some tums once at the sales counter in the store getting off Space Mountain!...just ask any counter for something and if they don't have it, they know who does!

hehe, new discoveries are fun, aren't they?

They have all sorts of stuff there: cough syrup, pepto bismol, benadryl, sanitizer, etc....

There are also some items sold at the Emporium and the little newstand-type-place in NOS that I can't think of the name of at the moment.

Hope you had a great visit!

How much does this stuff cost though?

I can get a bottle of 24 200 mg generic ibuprofen tablets for $1. A bottle of 30 generic Robitussin equivalents (sold under the "MUCUS COUGH RELIEF") is less than $3.

Is this like the single-use packages that I see in convenience stores, hotel gift shops, or airports? Once I had a nasty cough during a company meeting at a hotel meeting room, but decided I could live with it when I saw the single dose of Robitussin DM (it was like a pancake syrup packet) was $3 at the hotel gift shop.

Wait until the need for Imodium arises. That $3 can't get in the register fast enough.:hyper:

I guess I'm just lucky that I've never needed any meds while at the park. bcla, I don't know how much the Robitussin was. It was a smaller bottle than you normally get at the drug store, but larger than one dose. It's good to know they have it availible if you need it.:thumbsup2

headache pills, tummy trouble relief, bandaids, and even chapstick/lib balm is available in loads of places at both DL and WDW.

believe me, I know. :faint:

Our daughter tossed her pacifier out of the stroller along Main Street. We searched all over for that thing. Since we didn't have a spare, I asked in one of the stores if they knew where I could buy one. They have all kinds of baby necessities behind the counter. Price seemed the same as any other store. Unfortunately my daughter is a pacifier snob and wouldn't take their brand.

Been there. Specifically Thailand where I asked the hotel concierge where I could get something for my **ahem** condition. Was told to go a half block away to a pharmacy. And yes they had "Imodium" and not some generic, although it was made in Thailand under license by some Thai pharma company. It was also cheap - I think under the equivalent of 40 cents for 8 pills.

I typically come prepared. I prefer generic cough tablets to Robitussin because it's easier to carry and doesn't need to be measured out. I had a bottle of ibuprofen in my fanny pack and made sure to carry stuff.

Of course I'll ask if I forgot something.

When my daughter was about 2 we bought benedryl in the park for her. And the nice nurses in first aid figured out the dosage for us and gave us a measuring thing to use. They also gave her stickers, and a tooth brush. They will also give you a dose of antiacid (like tums, but generic) or headache meds if you just need a single dose.

Oh yes, they have quite the OTC pharmacy in many of the shops--you just have to ask.

On one trip with a sick kiddo we needed Tums and they had them at Star Traders. They cost $1.08. I joked that it was the cheapest item in the park.

I dunno. The park maps are free... :coffee:

I knew about band aids, single doses in first aid, etc. Learned this trip about all the rest, I have never needed so many bottles of medicine!! Four bottles, plus chap-stick & band-aids.

However, the resort does not carry children's cough medicine, only adults. I asked several CMs, including First Aid.

Bandaids are given free at the First Aid Centre if you need some.

As are single dose medications, I have been able to get Tylenol in a single dose before. :) I generally carry my own meds if I think I'll need them, in fact I carry a bottle of headache meds everywhere with me so I'm usually good, for some reason that one time I forgot and they were happy to give them to me. :) I've also been given numerous bandaids at First Aid. :)

:lmao::thumbsup2

I was a regular at the first aid station earlier this month. When my tooth absessed....I got an ice pack and generic Tylenol several times a day. The nurses were wonderful and so attentive every time I went there. They even got to the point where they noticed my swelling was up or down.
