Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

aggkkk! As the day wears on I am getting more and more nervous about my weigh in. I go in 90 minutes. I have no idea why I am this nervous. I did very litte working out this week, just focusing more on eating correctly and what that feels like after so long. I don't feel any lighter so now I am worried that it will show me at the same weight and I would be SO sad.:sad1: Look at me, I am getting all worked up about a complete unknown. I just need to go in and not worry about it. Just one foot in front of the other and it will eventually be off. Sorry for the rant!

Good luck with the scale!
And congratulations on a great week. :thumbsup2 You've gotten back on the program, worked out, made great food choices. That's a lot! Don't let that scale be your only means of measuring a successful week. As we all know, sometimes the scale doesn't cooperate.
But I bet you will do fine. Those meeting weigh ins are a bit nerve wracking. The little tortures we put ourselves through to get and stay in shape. :goodvibes

Jen, this an idea for you! To take a break from running on the hard ground you should try using ankle weights and run in the pool. The resistance makes it so tiring! Just an idea!

Where do you get ankle weights you can bring in the pool? The ones I have wouldn't work in the water.

A friend who lost weight permanently said something to me that made sense. She said, "You have to think of food not as entertainment. Just nourishment."

Now that idea takes getting used to.

Today is not going well for me. I'm got some flu or something. Eating is going fine, but I don't have any energy. Just have been resting and sleeping. Hope to be back to normal tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone! :cheer2:

I'm pretty sure any sports equipment store (Big 5, sport chalet, etc) would have them. You could even check Wal-mart or Target. I need to buy myself some so I'll let you know where I find them.

Hi ladies!
I have not read back at all....so I am sorry I have nothing real important to say. School, work, and family has been keeping me from having any 'me' time.

I have been staying on my WW. I must admit that getting back to eating carbs has not been easy. I am doing okay...just not losing. I am still the same weight I was 2 weeks ago. I will just keep at it and I know it will start coming off.

I hope you all have a wonderful night!

Good to see you January! I am glad things are going ok if busy. The only reason I have time to come on is because work is so slow!

As for my weigh in...it went ok. I lost weight and I am happy about that. I have started this week off well and went to the gym after my meeting last night.

Have a great day!

I'd look online for the best choices of water weights.
I'm sorry you're sick and hope today is better. Got to rest that bod.

Hi January, it's nice to see you here. I just wanted to say that when you transition from Atkins to WW, you need to be slower on the carb intake. You can't just jump back in because your body is sensitive to them now. If you're not losing, I'd cut back on them and then gradually reintroduce them.

As for my weigh in...it went ok. I lost weight and I am happy about that. I have started this week off well and went to the gym after my meeting last night.

:yay::yay::yay: That's great.

I did 35 min on the elliptical yesterday (just really busy now so not as much time available to exercise). I noticed I did the first mile at 13.5 minutes.

Have a moving day!

I have been more conscious of what types of food I use for my "points" this time around and I just had 1 cup of blueberries for 1 point and it took me 20 minutes to eat them. I had frozen them and they were quite a treat. I will def have to do that again. I am planning on getting lots of good fruit and veggies today as well as my milk, lean protein, whole grain, and vitamin. Water I have in the bag for the day! I have already had 48+ ounces and lots more to go! Have a great day everyone!

Hi January! :cheer2:
Have you tried the WW Simply Filling program (used to be WW Core)? That's what I'm trying to do now. You get a little big of wiggle room for some simple carbs and complex carbs are built into the program. It might be something that would work for you coming from Atkins.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE LOSS!!! :yay::yay::yay:
Sounds like you're doing really well with your food choices. I decided to make myself a soup for lunch and just grabbed some cans from the cupboard -- chicken broth, diced tomatoes, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, corn. Threw in some fresh herbs from the backyard and boiled it. And it turned out pretty good! Ideally I would have gotten some fresh veggies in there, but I thought I did pretty good with canned foods.

I'm still not feeling up to par, so I'm skipping exercise for today.

Hi All -

I am having a hard time getting back on track after being out of town! I did manage to run in Denver on Sat. and I ran 3.5 miles...my longest yet! The altitude killed me at first but I had my very own Jillian (from Biggest Loser) aka DBF Bob who kept pushing me along when I thought I could not run another step! I tried not to eat too much but you know how it is with parties and family reunions! I thought I'd just get right back into it when I got back to LA on Tues. but I still haven't run yet and I have totally ignored the WW online site. I'll get it together again soon I hope! I just need a swift kick from 'Jillian'!

Sarah - Happy to hear you had a loss!!!

January - I followed a low carb diet for a long time and adding back carbs is both great and frustrating. Hang in there and eventually you'll start losing again!

Donna - As always you are the exercise machine and my hero!

Jen - Sorry you're not feeling well. Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Crystal - You're doing great! When do you graduate? My niece was so excited on her graduation!

Laurie - I think I missed any posts from you but I am sure you're baby steps are moving you toward toddler steps!

Sorry if I missed anyone and if I did HI! and keep up the good work!

Now I just have to convince myself to get out there and run tonight...swift kick in the b**t is needed!:cool1:

Congrats that you did the run!!

Now go out there and run tonight! :cheer2::cheer2:

Friday check in!

The good: I ran 11 miles on Saturday, ate no sugar (other than what was in the daily low sugar protein bar), did weights twice.

The bad: was sick and unable to do any cardio other than my 11 mile run on Saturday (which I did before I caught this stupid bug). Ate well and stayed pretty on track with WW core foods, but didn't track as carefully as I should have.

The neutral: Weight is the same, measurements are the same.
No gain, no loss.

So how did the rest of you do?

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY

Checking in ...I weighed today and I gained 2.5 lbs from my 5 days away. :headache: I was expecting some kind of weight gain and I'm glad it wasn't more! I'm back on it today.

I did get my lazy self out and ran 2.26 miles last night (;) I had to put the exact miles in for you Jen!) It felt good to get out but it was a little harder than my runs had been before my little break. I am glad I did it because I know me if I would have kept putting it off then I could easily have gotten really lazy and put it off too long and I'd have to start all over.

Jen, Are you feeling better? 11 miles is great! You are almost up to 1/2 marathon distance! You are running the DL 1/2 aren't you? My memory fades in and out at times. :confused3 I would like to do the 5k but we'll see if we don't do something for Labor Day weekend. I do want to do a 5k soon so I'm looking for a fun, flat one! I hate hills but I know eventually I'll need to add some hills because every run can't be flat.

How is everyone else doing?

Hi gals, I just wanted to conclude my food log for yesterday.

Today has started off well enough, I think!

breakfast - 1.5 cups of honey bunches of oats (240), 3/4 c. milk (96)

Snack - (100) calorie pack of Pringles

Lunch - Lean Cuisine pepperoni pizza (370 calories)

Water count: ||||

2nd lunch/early dinner (4pm) - Lean Cuisines parmigiana chicken with spaghetti (310)

1/3 of a cheez-its bag

2 chicken legs (162)
some beans
1 small tortilla (181)

LC Cheese pizza (280)

So my total was around 1739 calories :thumbsup2

I told my mom that I think I will be living off of Lean Cuisine meals while I'm at college. Calorie & portion control is done and the food tastes good. They are very economical. We just bought some at Costco and they are 4/ $2 :goodvibes

No gym on Wed (it was my rest day) and I had initially planned to go on Thursday but I felt so sick (because I had to eat) when I got out of night class so I just headed home to eat and play a game.

I'm off to the gym in about 15 minutes. I bought water shoes and a snorkel to use.

Great job Cristabel...I had to work extra tonight so no gym for me. It seems like everytime I try to work out, I get forced to work extra at my job. I guess I know what to plan if I ever want to get overtime! I did well and stoped to get subway on the way to the second shift and that was a plus. I could easily have stopped at Burger King but I chose to be healthy.

Sarah

Hi friends...

So sorry I have been absent. The stress of work, school, Paul's dad dying, and my whole family being sick finally caught up with me. Everyone finally recovered and I got the kids back in school Monday and then I got sick. I struggled through the first 2 days, insisting it would pass, barely able to get through a half day at work, when one of the docs I work with insisted on an xray which showed pneumonia. So I have been home since Wednesday and feel completely miserable. Can't do anything without getting winded and feel like I could sleep all day. I'm really hoping the antibiotics kick in soon.

What makes me REALLY mad is this has stalled the C25K program again for me. But I am determined to get back at it as soon as I can.

I know I've missed a lot but from what I remember...

Vicki-I am so proud that you are running 5k length regularly!! Hope it works out that you can join us in Sept for the marathon!!

Jen-you are still my running hero! And now you're kicking sugar!! WTG! We are taking our family trip to WDW the last week in Jan so I won't be there marathon weekend but I am really hoping I can become a runner...so you never know! Let's see how labor day weekend goes..if I survive I plan to continue..catch some 5ks throughout the year, plan and train for the half the next labor day, and if that all goes well....I could meet you at WDW in Jan 2011 if you are interested.

Cristabel...WTG in tracking your meals and getting that water in. Keep it up!

Sarah...so awesome to see you here my friend! I had so much fun getting to know you on the girls trip. You can do this! Keep going...

January...I also have transitioned from Atkins to WW a few times. I always lost with Atkins but never maintained. WW was the only program that really worked for me. And honestly, its closest to what I am doing now, I just have done it so many times I know it by heart and don't need to join anymore..lol. But I agree with the comments others have made about using your points for healthy foods. I think that has been my downfall on previous attempts and that is what I am definitely doing different now. That and exercise. And limiting/excluding soda (even diet). I really think its made a difference because it doesn't seem like a diet to me anymore...just a different lifestyle that is now the norm for me.

Donna...great suggestion about fruits, especially this time of year. I freeze berries and grapes. I tend to switch from fruit to fruit as I get bored with one. Now I am loving red seedless grapes. When you really cut back on the processed stuff...it is amazing how different things taste. Fruit tastes so sweet to me now! And water delicious!! I have found I have to really dilute crystal light because if I mix it in normal it is too sweet. I was actually thinking today I will try making big pitchers of water with sliced fruit in it for flavor instead of crystal light and see how that is. But I haven't given up the Skinny Cow yet. I keep that and the fat free cool whip on hand for occasional treats (usually strawberries and cool whip). But I don't have it often.

I haven't even kept up with the threads but wanted to make sure I stayed on track by posting today.

After my first plateau since I started in Jan....I finally made the scale budge. I'm sure this is the one positive side of the pneumonia..lol. I weighed in at 186.5 so I have lost 5.5 lbs since last week for a total of 57 lbs since I started. Looking forward to that 60# banner!!

And I have to share something...but I'll post seperate so this isn't the longest post eva!!!

xoxo

sharing here because I know you will understand (and I tried to share with DH who just looked at me like I was crazy...)

I had to buy a suit for an accreditation visit last week at work, and a dress for a wedding.

Now of course, I have always HATED clothes shopping. I usually have to start way in advance, because I know I am going to have to go to several places, try on a ton, end up in tears a few times, and reluctantly buy something that I really am not thrilled with but it is the only thing that fits decently.

So this time...I had been so busy that I couldn't plan ahead. Ran from lunch and just went to the nearest shopping center due to time, and was looking to find something 2 days before the first event. I went to Dress Barn, walked in, tried to be optimistic, walked through the store picking out things I liked, entered the dressing room with an armful of size 16s, full expecting them to be too small...and EVERY SINGLE ONE FIT OR WAS TOO BIG!!!

I even got to go back and try on a bunch of 14 which fit too!! It was so much fun!! I got to pick out what I liked best out of several outfits which all fit instead of having to go with the only thing that did as I was used to.

When I was done and went to the register, I realized I had only looked at half the store, so I walked around the corner and realized that I had spent the past hour trying on clothes in the NON-PLUS side of Dress Barn!! The side I never dared to think about trying on anything before!!

Anyways..it was just such a good feeling. I've been in plus sizes for so long and hated shopping because I got so down on myself. Now I am a shopping fiend!! I've barely bought clothes because I've been dropping sizes regularly so I'm just sticking to a few things every few weeks to get through. I figure once I get to my goal weight I will go crazy shopping! But I can't go anywhere without at least trying things on. The last time we went to Target, I went straight to the clothes section. Paul called my cell after a while and I was in a dressing room..lol. Didn't need or buy anything but was just having so much fun trying on the larges!!

Sorry for the rant but I knew you would all understand. Getting these rushes is so amazing because it makes it all worth it. Now if I have a momentary temptation I remind myself how good it feels to grab a "L" size off the rack and go put it on easily without it being the 22 or 24, I've waited sooooo long for this!!

Thanks for reading!

Vicki--Those pounds will come off fast. As others assured me, if you get back on the program those really quickly gained pounds will not hang around long.

Cristabel--Great going on the exercise and food choices! :thumbsup2
I love those lean cuisines. My fridge is stocked with them. At lunch I just don't have the energy to figure out what to eat and lean cuisine makes it so easy. Plus they are good prices (though I usually get them for $2 or 3/each - 4/$2 is awesome! Is that $.50 each or buy 4 at $2 each?) I haven't had them so much in the last couple of weeks, cause I'm not sure they are all good about the complex versus simple carb thing, but I miss them now.

Sarah--Good job on choosing Subway! You're job situation makes it more challenging to get in the exercise and get good food. Any chance you can just start out the day with exercise and get it over with? Although I am not sure when your day starts? Your hours are all upside down.

Amy--So good to hear from you girlfriend! I am SO sorry that you are having such a rough time. Please GET HEALTHY and do not worry about ANYTHING but getting to feeling good again. You still have plenty of time for that 5k and without your health you can't embark on any exercise program. Just take care of that body of yours and HEAL.

Thanks for sharing your shopping stories! That was so awesome to read!!! Makes it all worthwhile! YEAH!!! :woohoo: I'm sure you looked absolutely fabulous in all those clothes. You are such an attractive person and now have a fabulous bod to go with it! :cool1:

So I'm two weeks off from my 1/2 marathon and I was unable to do any training this past week. Getting sick sucks, as Amy understands way more than me. I am feeling a bit better today and hope to at least get a walk in and tomorrow or Monday will do a 60 minute run.

I am just about ready to bite the bullet and sign on the for full marathon at WDW. I know I really want to do it, because I've been thinking about it since like January 1. I am a bit reluctant because of the cost and it feels a little extravagant, but I think I will regret it if I don't. If I go, it will be without the family, because that's the only way it's financially doable. I guess I should try to find a marathon here in California, but I'm just having a hard time getting excited about Sacramento or LA like I get excited about WDW. I'm gonna "put a pin in it" and give myself some more time to mull it over. I'd like to commit by the time I finish my 1/2 marathon on June 7 - so I can begin a new training program then.

I'm pooped out!
This morning I got left the house at 9:30am to get to my soon-to-be-cousin-in-law's house (Daniela). From there we drove to Griffith Park and parked by the pony rides. We hiked for 2 hours!!! My thighs and calves are so SORE. I'm definitely going to be feeling this tomorrow!

I got home around 1pm, changed into my bathing suit and went to lay out to tan.

Right now my mom is getting changed and when she's ready we'll be on our way to my aunt's house to swim in her pool.

We might go to the beach tomorrow after church.

It's turning out to be a great weekend!
