Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

I'm so far gone it's incredible.

I'm feeling slightly stressed and slightly sick. Ever since my mom's surgery (8 days ago) I have been Mother hen. Taking care of my little sister (making her meals, making sure she isn't running around naked, & making sure she completes HER chores [which are SO easy!]), taking care of the dog (food, water, exercise), making dinner, & cleaning the house every day (That reminds me, I need to clean the kitchen before I go to bed because my aunt is coming over tomorrow and it can't be a pigstye!) while washing loads of laundry but being too exhausted to actually fold them. So every day more clean laundry piles up in the garage and I just pick & choose what we wear each day:lmao: Since Tuesday I have been running up & down the stairs to give my mom meds, food, clothes, blankets, etc.

I bet my mom will say that it's what she deals with every day. Which I must argue is NOT true because she is not doing the entire house by herself. My older sister and I do chores each day to help.

Anyways I haven't been eating out, I have been eating oatmeal for breakfast and drinking lots of water and unsweetened hot & iced tea. I hope it helps. I haven't been to the gym in ages and I'm afraid how hard it will be when I get back. It really irritates me when my dad gets home and asks "did you go to the gym today" when I have the entire household to run. It makes me so mad I could just SCREAM!:headache: Then if something isn't done he has to make some sort of comment about it.

Sorry for my rant because it's SO off topic.

Anyways I ate WAY TOO MUCH chocolate today. :sad2:

((hugs)) Cristabel. That is so great that you are taking care of your mom like that. I am sure she appreciates it even if she doesn't say it now. And whether you know it or not doing household chores DOES burn calories. If you go on to some diet websites they have charts that show conversions of what different things equal like taking walks doing housework, gardening etc. So guess what even if you WEREN'T at the gym, guess what you STILL were getting a workout! :)

Don't let it get you down!! And it sounds like you are doing good on your eating too! Hang in there.

And to beth and Tracey I think it was who asked if I get hungry, I have gotten myself used to eating less so it doesn't take as much to get me full. BUT if I do get hungry I drink more water or if I need a snack I eat some low fat low salt crackers like triscuits, something with a lot of fiber that will fill me up or a non fat yogurt or some fruit.

But so far I haven't needed anything.

Last night after dinner I had my small serving of yogurt and I DID get a little hungry so I had a handful of the crackers but apparently what I am doing is working because today the scale read 154.4! So hopefully it stays that way and keeps going down and not back up!

That is what usually happens IF I am going to lose in a week. It starts going down by the end of the week and then by Monday weighin it will be what it is.

I am truly amazed honestly that I was able to lose anything by diet alone without working out although being so sick probably did affect things but yesterday since I didn't want to sit at the computer all day I DID do several loads of laundry which requires going up and down the stairs and I cleaned out the girls room so I did get a little exercise. Didn't get my heart rate up like a normal cardio workout but I did move around a bit so I wasn't totally sedentary.

I am stoked though. I hope this sticks because I haven't seen this weight other than right after my test last summer when I got to 153 but that was only for a day and after I had NOTHING in my body LOL and of course as soon as I ate again it went right back up. ;)

I am SO intrigued to see if I can actually DO this. I will be so interested to see what I can do once I actually start working out!

Now I am anxious to get better so I CAN!

Hi Cristabel!

Great job taking care of your mom and household. I'm sure that she does appreciate all that you are doing.

Do take some time to take care of yourself and exercise. It will help you feel better and have more energy. You do need to focus on yourself some too, if you get your Dad or sister to help out so you can have a break.

Ok guys for all of you that feel bad about your eating here's something that will make you feel better. I saw this on one of my other boards and it cracked me up.

This place is NUTS. Could you imagine eating this stuff. CRAZY!!

You GOT to feel good about yourself and what you eat when you see people that eat like THESE fools! NUTS! Thought you guys would get a good laugh! :)

It's DAY 4 OF OUR COUCH TO 5K BY DL DIVAS MEET
If you did any walking yesterday, great job. If you didn't, good job too for staying on program!:thumbsup2

For today, we have a 15 minute walk day. The walk can be anywhere - to school, on the treadmill, to the store, in nature, in circles around the kitchen - whatever works!

Again, here's the entire, very doable program:
http://www.halhigdon.com/5K%20Training/5-Kwalk.htm
It is never too late to start!

Have you thought about where you are going to go for your longer walks this weekend? I know we have some awfully good planners on this board and this is definitely worth taking the time to plan a little bit.

Bye from your friendly annoying virtual trainer. :woohoo:

Great job on the good eating and weight loss!! :woohoo:

But you're never too far gone that you can't find your way back. You've been dealing with a lot and now it's time to get back to caring for yourself. You can do it!!
You did it before and you can do it again. I know you can! :cheer2:

Congrats on the loss!
I guess I just need to get used to it too. I was used to eating so much over the holidays and now I'm always hungry. LOL

I'm not a big meat eater, but I bet if that was made with vege patties, I could eat the big one all by myself. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Thanks skinny witch trainer!! :yay: ;) :rotfl:

I walked this morning so I'm on track. And if I can get the kids to walk with me this weekend I'll do my long walk outside. If not, then I'll use my Walk at Home DVD. It has up to 3 miles on it so either way I'll be set.

Thanks skinny witch trainer!! :yay: ;) :rotfl:

I'll take that as a compliment! :rotfl:

Go ahead, abuse your virtual trainer...I can take it.

I will not stop until I have you planning your week long backpacking hike in the Grand Canyon!! The DIS Divas Do the Desert! And I'm not talking casinos!

Do any of you guys do the Leslie Sansone Walk tapes? I just love her. I have her 3 mile walk tape and a couple other ones. I have her walk jog and her walk kick which is a kick boxing one. That one is really fun. Then last year I found a new one that was another 3 mile one that had some new moves. I really like the tapes cuz I can do them in my house in my pjs when I first get up and I can do them when it's too cold or too hot outside. I do them right after I get back from dropping off the girls and BEFORE I take my shower that way I don't have to shower twice.

I know that once I get all cleaned up I am not going to want to do it all over again. That is part of my reason for not wanting to go to a gym. If I have to get up and get all cleaned up and dressed to go to a gym then I don't want to get all sweaty all over again and then have to take yet ANOTHER shower. Plus I like to work out first thing and get it over with and get on with my day. Plus it makes me more energized for the rest of my day. Not saying that you can't get a walk or some other type of exercise in later in the day, esp in the spring or summer when it is light later on but esp in the winter I like to get it done early. Plus in the summer too we are really busy with swim team and sports so if I don't get it done early I don't have time later.

Don't worry about the eating Beth. It takes time to get used to eating less. Don't try to starve yourself at first cuz that leads to binging. Just cut back slowly. And drink LOTS of water or eat things that bulk up but have less calories to keep you full like apples or high fiber crackers etc. That helps a lot. I find that eating several SMALL meals helps as well instead of just 3 larger meals.

And you are SO right about keeping the food diary. I don't need to do it anymore cuz I can keep track now but I did it for years and it REALLY helped me keep track of what I was eating. We can do this!! I am so excited for all of us! We are going to look awesome! :)

:scared1: I don't know if that's such a good idea. If you've been reading the other thread, lately some of the ladies would like to take body bags and shovels to the desert. :rotfl:

And yep, skinny witch was a compliment. ;)

That's the walking DVD I mentioned earlier! I love it. I have the 3 mile one with the waist belt. The belt bugs me, but I use it sometimes. It's a good DVD and I feel like I did get a work out when I use it.

We are going to look awesome!! :dance3:

TOMORROW is weigh in day (officially). I cheated and weighed in early though on Tuesday and stupid scale still said 226. BUT that was the first day I was back on track, so hopefully by tomorrow morning it will show me a nicer number then that. :wizard:

Hi ladies,

I'm feeling better today. I have a terrible cough though.....that horrid winter cough.....hello old friend, I haven't seen you in about a year. Burns my chest like the dickens sometimes.

Christabel - girl, you take a little time to take care of yourself everyday! You will burn out if you don't. Trust me, YOU'RE MORE IMPORTANT than dirty laundy, the dog, or a clean kitchen.

Jen - I love having a virtual trainer! (Only, honestly, there's no way I can walk outside right now for the longer weekend walks. It would be like going on a kamikaze mission.....sure I could go out, but the likelyhood of survival is minimal.) I promise to do what I can inside though.:thumbsup2

Beth - Way to go on getting your walk in today!:cheer2:

kelmac284 - You poor thing! You have pain from top to bottom (literally). I got one of those horribly painful 'roids giving birth of my first, so, in a way, I gave birth to Ryan and "Roid"......twins! (hahaha) Felt like a blowtorch up my butt. And actually going number 2 felt like pooping a double-edged sword. I couldn't sit.....I couldn't stand.....the only relief I could find was sitting in a bathtub. It finally popped out, or burst, or whatever they do, after about 4 months. Since then, I haven't had very many problems in that, ahem, area. I hope your bottom feels better soon, and your migraines subside!

Thanks Capri. Yeah the bad things is I have been dealing with these stupid things for years and because I am so pron to constipation because of the meds I take I have to be SO careful and they say once you get them a few times you are REALLY susceptible to them coming back again. I just HAD one of these this past summer and now here I have another one. I try to be SO careful about getting enough fiber and all. In fact my doctor has me on a laxative almost every day (which I KNOW is not normally healthy) but for someone like me I practically need one and especially with all the meds I take. I try to regulate it with the foods I eat but I can't always get that to work. It is "literally" a real pain in the butt LOL.

But I am used to it by now. The only thing that makes me mad though is that when I was urgent care this summer the doc there suggested that I go to a colo rectal specialist to get a more permanent fix for this problem since I have so many issues but my doc is SO against referrals. You probably weren't around to hear about my OTHER issue but I also have a bladder issue I have been fighting for OVER a year now and I FINALLY got my doc to refer me to a urologist this fall and I have a date to have surgery done next month. So yes I have yet ANOTHER issue in the nether regions.

Gotta love it! :) I'm telling ya I am falling apart LOL.

I swear if it is not one thing it is seriously something else LOL.

I seriously thought though if I dropped 50 pounds my life would get so much better but so far that hasn't helped but I am still glad I did it. And I KNOW that I am healthier for it no matter what! My blood pressure is better I am sure and I haven't really ever had my cholesterol checked but I am sure it is better too!

I don't drink or smoke or drink caffeinated beverages so I at least have THAT going for me! :) You'd think I'd be in GREAT shape eh? ;)

I had horrible morning sickness with all my pregnancies. Had me in and out of the hospital with the twins in fact. BUT I never had those and I guess I should be thankful for that!!

I don't drink or smoke or drink caffeinated beverages so I at least have THAT going for me! :) You'd think I'd be in GREAT shape eh? ;)
Maybe you should! :rotfl: I think with all the stress you could use a drink or two. ;)

I don't think I'll see any pretty numbers tomorrow after all. :(

I over ate today! Like a lot. By probably 400 or 500 calories. I didn't eat anything "bad" like cake or cookies. But I just didn't stop eating.

I had things like blueberries, yogurt, cereal, turkey wrap, apple slices, soup, frozen yogurt, Lean pocket, and on and on. Like I said, no cheesecake or anything, but still. I feel so full and I know the scale will show it in the morning. :headache:

I feel ya. I had a pb&j for lunch today. And then for dinner I had 2 slices of meat cuz I was pretty hungry tonight and probably double the serving size of yogurt so after I finally made some headways my weight will probably go back up tomorrow. So I will have to make up for it tomorrow if I want to get back down by my weigh in on Monday. THAT is why I sometimes hate having my weighins be on Mondays because I have to get all the way through the weekends.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get there. As long as WHAT you are eating is healthy it is better than eating BAD food!

I did the same! Ate and ate and ate today. Nothing real bad, but just a lot. I think it's the cold.

Beth--as long as you are eating the right stuff and exercising, no worries. The scale might not show the loss this week, but it will...don't worry. You've done great getting back on track and getting those goodies OUT OF your diet. It's all good. :thumbsup2

I have three weeks now until my 1/2 marathon. It's coming up for real! Wow. A one hour long run this weekend. And then a 2 and 1/2 hour long run next weekend. And then taper 'til the run. I'm gonna do it!!!:woohoo:

Oh, and just thought I'd leave you with a QUOTE OF THE DAY:
The successful person has the habit of doing the things failures don't like to do. They don't like doing them either necessarily. But their disliking is subordinated to the strength of their purpose.
E. M. Gray

Goodnite ladies,
Jen

Well--here's what happened to me today. Drank coffee, forgot to eat breakfast (had a handful of mixed nuts) did the treadmill watching the view, (40 minutes actual time on between stretching and I don't know what) ate breakfast around noon, Cascade farms cereal and a banana, Miltons english muffin with apple butter, orange juice. That's all ok, went to Costco had some samples, got to work and ate a few shrimp with scampi, (I made samples) got home and ate another handful or 2 of mixed nuts, some dried mangos and a glass of wine, then the stupid popcorn tin was just sitting there so had oh-- I guess about a small bowl of that--not planned at all. I love that cheese popcorn though shoot. I refuse to just toss the stuff, too frugal for that. Oh well, I did my dumb back exercises though after that.

Morning all. Well just like I thought I didn't eat as well as I should and it showed on the scale. I am back up a pound to 155.4. But that is common and today is not my official weighin so it doesn't matter. And I am still technically down so I am not worried. I am going to do better today though. If I get hungry I will make sure and eat better! Plus the roast we had last night was pretty salty and that can affect your weight a lot. Water weight is tricky.

But no worries. I know once I start working out it will make a huge difference.

Anyway hope everyone has a good day. I have to work today and tonight is GS so I won't be on as much. See you guys later.
