Sorry if this has already been posted...

Does DLR offer any kind of dining plan?

I am considering taking my mom next year to DLR and kind of like the idea of having all of the food already paid for.

TIA! :thumbsup2

They have a voucher program...it's NOTHING like WDW's. Unless you plan very very well, you're only going to break even, IF that. If you use a $5 voucher to buy $3 worth of food, you don't get change. So you use a $5 voucher to buy $7 worth of food, and you kick in $2 of your own. And so on. The plans, based on how many days you want it, do have a certain number of character meal vouchers, and those aren't money-based, so that's nice.

The other nice thing is that you don't have to get the plan for length-of-stay...you could stay 7 days and get the plan for 5 days worth if you want. So you just use the vouchers as you wish.

Some like it...I personally like just budgeting with giftcards, so it's pre-paid but not vouchers. :)

Do you need to book a package to get it, or can it be purchased separately?

From all acounts, there is no $$ savings from getting the dining plan vs. paying cash. The main pro for getting the plan is that it is prepaid.

Do you need to book a package to get it, or can it be purchased separately?
I believe you have to purchase it as part of a package and can not be bought seperately. You could always just buy a gift card and use that for meals.

I thought it was only with a package, but jadedarkstar (an occasional poster) has reported being able to add it on when booking room-only by phone.

I agree with the previous posters - we bought a gift card when we arrived and used it. It worked really well and seems simpler than keeping track of vouchers

Don't waste your money buying the vouchers. If you want to prepay, definitley use giftcards!

We did the vouchers and loved it, they were easy and were paid for long before we went...... then we came across the gift cards. loved them!! Now I not only get the gift cards, but I get for the resturants out side the park as well. this week, tony roma's ( on harbor) mimi's and milli's and the rainforest cafe . so we are covered !!
