Hi all- I'm trying to figure out the changes made to the DAS since our last visit to DL a few years ago. I understand it is tied to the park tickets now and all member of the party are listed. A few questions:
- do I have to have all party members tickets every time I get a return time at a kiosk?
- can I get the DAS prior to entering the parks on our arrival day?
- if our party splits up, can I still get fastpasses for the rest of the group?
Thanks in advance for any help :)

Thanks! Excellent information there.
Silly question, but without the paper pass, how do you remember the return time?

Yes, you need all party members tickets if they want to go on the ride. You do not need the party members to get return times but you do need the party members to get the DAS in the first place.
No, you can not get it before your ticket is scanned on the first day.
You can (and should) also use fast passes. I find it works best to fast pass the less popular rides and then go get a DAS for a popular ride. Usually you can then use your fastpass pretty quickly and the DAS will be up when you are done. If your party includes a wheelchair, how it works in fantasyland seems to be subject to the whim of the day (or crowd levels maybe).

Its pretty easy to remember the time. You only need to remember one time at a time. But when you get the DAS you sign an agreement and on the back is lined paper for you to write the ride and times.

Thanks for the great info- I appreciate it since it looks crazy crowded next week.
We will definitely make use of fastpasses, but I know there are fewer rides at DL that have FP.

Yes, you need all party members tickets if they want to go on the ride. You do not need the party members to get return times but you do need the party members to get the DAS in the first place.

This part is kind of confusing.

You do NOT need all party members present when obtaining the DAS, just the member who the DAS is for, and all the other tickets. I always just go in with my son and my husband waits outside with my other son. I tell them we are a family of 4. The only time I have overheard a CM asking for the entire party is when it is more than 6 people total, then they want to physically SEE all the other people.

You DO need everyone's tickets when you go to a kiosk to get a return time. The actual people don't have to be with you, but you do have to have all tickets on you.

One other little tidbit I haven't seen mentioned anywhere (I'm sure it has been but possibly not for a while..) :

You can get a return time for any attraction at EITHER PARK from ANY KIOSK. For example, say you're going to hop from DL to DCA. You can get a time for radiator springs racers or whatever you want at a kiosk right there in DL so the wait time will be winding down during your walk over to the other side.

Let me be more clear. To get the DAS you need all party members present.
To get a return time, anyone connected to the DAS can get it but you need all the tickets in your hand. I am positive I have taken my daughter (who the DAS is for) to first aid in DCA to change her diaper and sent my husband to get DAS return times with all the tickets but without her. That is our routine.

To ride the ride, you must have the DAS person with you.

I too thought you didn't need everyone to initially get the DAS if you had less than 6 people. And I do think that is technically the rule, but 2 out of 3 times we have gotten them, we needed the whole party of 4 present. THey looked at the photo on the ticket and then looked at the person it matched up to. Trust me, when your vacation is basically ruined if you do not get the DAS, it is not something you want to mess with.

I will also say the DL is not at all consistent with the DAS, which is why both DLgal and I are probably right. Your best bet is to all be there to get the DAS and the first time you get a return time at a kiosk each day, ask them if the disabled person has to come to the kiosk to get return times or if you can just come back with the all the tickets. That will most likely get you the answer for the day.

For a DAS return time at the kiosk, the DAS holder does not need to be there to get the return time. For a wheelchair return time ticket holder needs to be there at the ride. The CM basically needs to confirm the need for the alternate entrance. This has been very consistent since the DAS started in my experience.
