I was wondering if the princess dress and such are different from what is offered at the Disney Store. Dd wants to be Jasmine for Halloween, yet we are planning on going to Disneyland the weekend before Halloween. (One week prior to Halloween)

I'm trying to decide if I should purchase her costume now, or wait til we get there. Also what are the price descrepencies if you might nkow? I know the one's at the store at 39.99 right now.

Also, would it be hard to find something in stock at the theme park being THAT close to Halloween?

Yes, they are different at the park than they are at the Disney Store. They sometimes have the park ones online in the Theme Park Authentic merchandise, but I don't know if they currently do. I believe the dress would probably be about $60 at the park.

Sometimes they are different and sometimes the same - in the past, the Jasmine costume has been a little different, but much more expensive in the parks (i have seen them from $60-$80 and up for the deluxe costumes). Try ebay - sometimes you can get a brand new theme park costume for much less than in the parks. In fact, I got a new with tags Jasmine theme park costume on ebay a year or so ago for $29. :thumbsup2

When we went Oct 18-23 in 2009 and I thought it would be special for the kids to pick a costume once we got there. I found the selection at Disney was limited. DD6 wanted to be Mulan and there was not a single Mulan costume in DL or DCA (believe me I checked!). She settled on a Rosetta costume (Tink's friend). DS4 had trouble finding any costume at all as he did not want to be a pirate or Peter Pan. We ended up with a Woody costume that was quite a bit too big so he did not wear the pants but looked cute as a button anyways. He wore that costume last year too. It will finally fit him well this year but I don't think he will want to be Woody 3 years in a row!
They are great quality costumes but if your heart is set on a certain one, they may be out of stock.

So this won't really help your cause now, but I wanted to share what I did last year. I went to Toys R Us right after Halloween and they had all their costumes super cheap. I got her: jasmine, cinderella, sleeping beauty, super girl, snow white and ariel all for about $5 per costume! I bought the next size up and they all still fit. Santa brought these to her in a chest of dress up clothes and my mom got her the princess shoes from costco that had like 4-5 pairs in it. Anywho, Halloween is coming so something to think about in the days following :)
I was so proud of myself for thinking outside the box on this one:rotfl:

The ToysRus costumes are not near Disney quality so depending if $ or great quality are your priority...

I couldn't agree more with cari12. Their is no comparison between the quality of the Toys R Us costumes and the Disney Store ones. My daughter has a TRU Rapunzel costume. I'm constantly sewing, fabric gluing, etc that one, while the others stay together, you know, like real clothes...

We got our costume at The Disney Store last time and regretted it once we got to the park! Theirs were way better than ours. It would be a bummer if they didn't have the character you wanted, but if they do, you'll like the quality. We're getting ours at the park when we go next week.

Were going on Oct 10th and was debating the same thing buy our costumes at the Disney store or wait. Our DD is 1 and yesterday I just bought hers at the Disney store she will be tink and the costume glows in the dark, I used our Disney rewards card and got it for 20% off. I doubt that I will see something else for her while were there. Our son wants a star wars themed costume so I think we wait and see if they have a costume in the Jedi store when we go if not we will run to Target and hopefully they have what he wants there. I have heard that the costumes are more expensive at the parks vs the the Disney store.
