We are doing to DL in January and have reservations for Storytellers for a character breakfast. Which characters are typically there? Anyone with a review of Storytellers or recommendations for what to make sure we try/avoid? Are any of the other character breakfasts better? Thanks!

Storyteller's is the quietest breakfast I'd say. Characters are typically Chip and Dale and Koda from Brother Bear plus we had Pluto in August I've previously met Meeko from Pocahontas there but I believe he stopped meeting there a couple of years ago. The food was excellent every time I've been (though this trip we REALLY missed the ham and pineapple we had 3 years ago!) it's a smaller selection on the buffet than most but the food is a higher quality and served in small quantities to keep it fresh. I really enjoy this breakfast for the laid back feel and the good food. If you want more typical characters you might want to head to Goofy's Kitchen or Surf's Up with Mickey but we really enjoy our - now traditional - departure day breakfasts here.

I hit Storytellers quite a bit as they have really stepped up their food quality. Although not a huge selection, I think they have the best breakfast taste and quality of all the Buffets.

Now, with that...last two time I was there I remember thinking "wow, if I paid expecting a "Character Meal" I would be really ticked"...the characters were pretty dismal and few and far between. We were not there for the characters, but compared to PCH Grill which is the best interaction in my opinion, Storytellers was lacking in the character part of the experience.

I agree with above posters... storytellers food is great, character exp is not so great.

I still like the breakfast at plaza inn for characters, plus it's in the park.

We were there a year ago. While the food might have been a little better than Mickey's Surf's Up or Goofy's Kitchen, it wasn't that much better. And it seemed they'd run out of food for certain items and we'd have to wait a bit.

As for characters, it was disappointing. Only 4! Chip&Dale, of course (they're everywhere). Then Meeko and Kenai. We had to wait FOREVER for Kenai. And the other characters were just alright.

I'm glad we did it once, but it's not on our return list.

I'd love to do Storyteller's again. And I will. Just as soon as they stop having 2 of 4 character spots taken up with characters present at 2 other character meals and easy to find in the parks.

We did it last year. We were more interested in the food than the characters. The food is overpriced for what it is, but that is typical of all things Disneyland. I saw Chip, Dale and Brother Bear. Most of the time, I didn't see any characters at all.

Storyteller's is a much more relaxed atmoshere. It is the "woodland" characters primarily and Pluto recently, and we have seen the "forest ranger" lead kids around the room, dancing and singing, etc. Agree with the pps about the food quality being much better than other places....and FRESH Mickey waffles brought to your table! That said, if you are focused on characters, then your best bet is the Plaza Inn in DL park.....10-12 characters is not unusual.

Totally agree with the previous poster. I thought the food was quite good. Its not an overwhelming experience and you actually get to enjoy the meal. But you should think of the characters as a bonus. Not a reason for going to the meal. If I wanted characters I would choose Plaza Inn. The best combination of food and characters is probably Surf's Up (Stitch is really fun and not generally found elsewhere in the parks.

Yes, I agree with everyone else.

- Food is the best of the places I have tried (Plaza Inn and Ariels being the others I've tried). Not close IMO.
- Restaurant not as crowded as the others. We were able to walk in easily.
- Character selection is the lowest and not as many "famous" characters.
- Ambience is nice there. Roomier, cleaner, quieter.
- staff much friendlier there, I think mainly because they are not rushing around turning over tables every 2 minutes

When we stayed at GCH, we went there several times for breakfast.

I think it's a good mix of good food and characters.

However, if characters are your main goal, and you can only choose 1 character breakfast, I probably wouldn't do Storytellers. But if I were going to go to breakfast multiple times, I would rather eat at Storytellers 5 days in a row than Plaza Inn.

We are DVC members, so we eat there regularly - we've scaled back to once a visit once we started staying in the Villas, but we like it enough that we still visit. We usually make reservations so that we don't have to wait, but we've had plenty of luck walking in.

We saw Chip, Dale, Koda, and Meeko in November. I think I'm in the minority, but I like the character interactions because they're so low key. It's the only place my nephews are willing to do anything with characters.

I feel like the food is, for the most part, standard hotel breakfast fare. It's good, but nothing special except the french toast with caramel sauce, which I would eat every day.

Yeah, that French Toast is pretty good. It's the chef's grandmother's recipe apparently.

I have never eaten there but I know someone who got back from disneyland a few weeks ago and said Chip and Dale , Baloo and some of the country bears were there. I ate at Goofys this year and really enjoyed it. Next year I am going to stay at the grand california for the first time so I want to try storytellers. It would be interesting to hear from recent diners about the character line up. Even though there are fewre characters do they make it a point to get to every table? At goofys i was happy that we got more than one visit affording great pictures. I thin goofys has more food like pizza but i wonder about the breakfast food and how it compares. If baloo or a country bear were there i would definately do it. Plus isn't story tellers 5 or 10 bucks cheaper than Goofy"s

I've only done Storytellers and Plaza Inn, so I can't compare to the others. That said, we had good, long visits with all of the characters at Storytellers, and we got multiple visits from the Chipmunks and Koda this year. They definitely made it to all the tables.

We had the most amazing character experience at Storyteller's character breakfast...it was a little later in the morning, and not very crowded. The characters visited our table multiple times and they were a HOOT! And to top it off, Chip sat down at the table next to our special needs young adult son and motioned along with his hands while my son sang to him. I had tears in my eyes...it was a truly magical experience.

That is so magical!!!

We went for the Easter Brunch. It was Kind of quiet then - Meeko, Kenai and Chip and Dale were attending. Chip and Dale really took a liking to us. They came to our table so often although the ranger kept reminding them that their other friends wanted to meet them too.

We had brought some hats from Tokyo, one of them was a Dale hat with wiggling ears. They kept stealing it and running off - then the second munk ran after the culprit cause you know, it wasn't them who had the hat and thus it wasn't fair. :D

We even got a Group shot with both munks and Kenai which is practically unheard of at the other Locations.

If you're not into These characters though you may want to skip it. It's really Kind of "Special". If you don't know the characters you may not enjoy it. I was back in October and People kept calling the Brother Bear bears - even Koda who's tiny - Baloo. As they seem to have get rid of the handlers there now Kenai ended up grabbing me and I had to accompany him for a bit telling everyone "this is Kenai from Brother Bear and not Baloo." :D

The Standard now seems to be Kenai, the chipmunks plus X. I went twice in October and once met Pluto and once Koda - insanely delighted about that because it's super Special when he's there now. Whenever I walked past in the Mornings it was Pluto the other days.
