There are only three Disney owned hotels at Disneyland. I've stayed at the Grand Californian. It's not just close to a Disneyland park--its in one of them. GC has its own private entrance to Disney's California Adventure--and Disneyland is just across the ticket plaza from DCA. Closest you can stay to the parks in any US Disney resort. We're going to be staying at Paradise Pier this August which is, like the Disneyland Hotel, a hotel that was built by someone else, then years later bought and re-habbed by Disney. They have "added" Disney theming, but were not architecturally designed as Disney resort hotels. They are nice places, just not what you've come to expect if you're used to WDW resort hotels. Grand Californian is Disney designed and the most expensive--but the experience of staying there is truly GRAND.
I think that all Good Neighbor hotels/motels that surround Disneyland have shuttle service. Please, use them even if your lodging is only a couple of blocks from the parks. I know that folks from the UK are much more willing to walk short and moderate distances--we in the US get kidded (deservedly) about never walking anywhere. But the fact is, it's very dangerous crossing the multi-lane freeways and streets that border Disneyland. Sadly, just last month a family was hit crossing the freeway after a day at the Disneyland and 3 children were killed.
