Any ideas for planning this trip? We are in Nova Scotia (2 AD 2 CH 10 & 12) and saw some great Airfares through Delta with terrible connections into LAX. I would like reliable flights. We may stay at Marriott near Convention Centre. Thinking May 19-27ish. We were there over 20 years ago, daughters first time. Thoughts?

Have you looked into flying into Orange Count Airport? (code is SNA) It is so much more convenient than LAX! We flew from Victoria BC to SNA via Alaska Air.

DH and I were in DLR for our honeymoon 11 years ago and then more recently this past August with our 6 year old DS. We had such a great time that I am in the middle of planning a trip in March 2012 for my 40th. :)

Hey, I'm also now living in Victoria BC.

Last year we flew into SNA (via Las Vegas) and I agree. SNA is quite close to Disneyland, and the shuttles are quite inexpensive. Entire family of 5 and we paid $35 for private shuttle from Airport to Hotel. SNA is a very small airport so it is also very quick. LAX usually involves lots of waits and delays.

Westjet has flights from Calgary and Vancouver to SNA. I would check them out and see what kind of connection you can get.

I don't know if this is an option for you flying from Nova Scotia, but another airport close to Anaheim is Long Beach (LGB). It's about 20-25 min to Anaheim. The airport is small where you walk off the plane and the luggage carousel is steps away, and the car rental lots are steps away. No shuttles.

Your hotel, Anaheim Marriott, is a nice hotel. We've stayed there before years ago. It's a 15-min walk to the Disney main gate. The only issue is that it may be a long walk after a long day at the parks. You can take the ART back (for a pp fee) which has a stop right in front of your hotel.

If you're not totally committed to this hotel, you may want to check out getawaytoday.com which has great hotel only packages. Some of their hotel only packages include complimentary shuttle, kids eat free, and free parking.

There's a Target close by on Chapman and S Harbor where you can buy bottled water. Next door to the Target is a dollar store where you can find Disney themed stationary (notebooks, pens, etc.) where my daughters used to find souvenirs to bring back to their friends. Also have bought small Disney notebooks for $1 to use as autograph books when my kids forgot to bring theirs.

Mimi's Cafe is on S. Harbor across the street from the Disney main gate serves affordable family meals. Check out their menu on their website, and sign up on their site closer to your departure date to get a free breakfast. Their breakfasts are a great way to start the day. You'll also get other coupons.

Don't know if you like to visit a SoCal beach. If so, include in your plans a visit to Huntington Beach, about 25 min from Anaheim.

Hope that helps you in your planning!

Thanks, for all this, I love the idea of the smaller airports, no crowds. LAX scared me last time and with two children, the covenience of being steps away from luggage and car rentals is a real treat. Thanks!
