Are we crazy, or is it worth it?? We were originally planning to go the week before Halloween, but are now thinking about going for Christmas...the 23-29th of December. I know it will be busy, but is it any busier than during the summer months? I've been to Disneyland(my favorite place in the world!!) numerous times throughout the year, but never in December. Is Christmas Day the busiest day of the year?
Also, we are thinking of staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Our kids are 10, 8, 6, and the little one will be 18 months when we go. Is staying at the DL hotel worth the $$? It just seems so convenient, especially if we go during a very busy time. It seems there are lots of 'perks' to staying at one of the Disney hotels.
One more question! Any suggestions on where to have Christmas Eve/Day meals in or around Disneyland?a We are Christmas fanatics, AND Disney fanatics, so this just seem so exciting!! Thanks for any helps/tips/advice! It's a long ways off but I'm already so excited!

You have definitely chosen a busy time to go. Christmas Day will be busy, and each day closer to New Years Eve will get even busier. You can easily compare the crowds to a summer crowd. Weather is mild, and sometimes rainy (which will help the crowds), so if you don't mind the people, go and enjoy the Christmas Season at Disneyland!

We love staying at the Disneyland Hotel and have stayed there every single time except once (we stayed at the Grand California once).

We went last December for the first time (Dec. 5-8) and had an amazing time. There is nothing like the combo of Disneyland and Christmas together! It is like the perfect melding of two fantastic things.

I have heard that the week of Xmas is REALLY crowded--but if you are planning on staying there at the hotel, you could just work around the crowds and leave back to the hotel to rest if it gets to be too much.

You can even get a Xmas tree put in your room.

We had a surprise at the Disneyland Hotel of milk and Xmas cookies delivered to our room one night (it was free--they gave it as a gift to us). We stayed in the Dreams Tower (Sierra) and had the perfect view of the Xmas tree in downtown Disney. The downtown Disney view was spectacular at night with all of the lights. We were high up (I think the 7th floor?) and could see everything from the park to the big tree to all of the decorations in DTD.

The Grand California also has fabulous decorations for Xmas--and a great tree. There are carolers in the lobby and they serve hot cocoa there. We may stay there next Dec.

Good luck and happy planning!

I agree, Christmas is a beautiful time of year to go to DL.

However, when you do your planning, be aware that park closures based on crowd levels do go into effect quite often during that week between Christmas and New Year's. While you are staying at the resort, you may get back into one park or another, but sometimes you may not be able to at all.
