Does anyone own a vacation or rental home in the Disneyland area? I reside in Las Vegas, and from mid July through fall (when the heat becomes unbearable) I get out of town. I've been going to Newport Beach, but considering acquiring perhaps a property in the vicinity of DL.

I'd only use the property for two months or so in the summer, and random trips throughout the rest of the year (visiting during the Holiday Season, etc). For the period it's not in use, I want to explore short-term leasing of the property. Anyone one else doing this? Management company suggestions?

Anaheim has recently banned short term vacation rentals. I don't know if you can still just do 6 month leases like normal places. Then, you'd have to deal with giving 30 days notice each time.

I visit DL quite often, and considered purchasing near DL. The new Anaheim ban on short term rentals might not hold up in court, but it seems clear there will continue to be some significant restrictions.
Anaheim is looking at softening the rental ban, to allow some room rentals (where the homeowner lives on the property).

This quote from the OC Register article sums up the situation:
The city in 2014 briefly allowed people to operate short-term vacation rentals. But the rapid proliferation of income homes in the city, the powerful resort hotel unions stance against the rentals, and residents complaints that vacationers were staying in “mini-hotels” and ruining neighbors’ quality of life led to the ban.

We briefly considered canceling our GCV 1 bedroom reservation for January due to upcoming pool closings , and did search out some Anaheim home rentals . There seemed to be plenty available on VBRO ? Is there a time frame when this ban was supposed to be rolled out. As of January 2017 , there were still lots of short term rentals available close to DL .

I will say that the Anaheim home rental rates were WAY more $$$ , than the typical rentals you would find in the WDW area . Shockingly more $$$ actually !

We decided to suck it up, and just stay put at the GCV for a week , even with the inconvenience of no pools /hot tub .

There is indeed a time frame of 18 months from when the ordinance was passed in July, so we're looking at January 2018 before it goes in effect.

Wow! I'm glad I saw this. BFF and I had kicked around this idea. We'd seen a couple of condos that would be cheaper than our usual stay at either the Grand or DLH. The idea of having a kitchen really appealed to us.

Guess that's not going to happen now.
