Disneyland App Character Info - accurate?

How accurate have people been finding the Disneyland app to be with its character appearance time information? I love that feature on the app, but am wary because I know Disney's online information doesn't always match reality...would love to know we can count on it during our trip! Thanks in advance!

I think you need to take it with a grain of salt. I spent 3 days searching for the Queen of Hearts based on the app. I even double checked the validity of the timing with the guest services locations in DCA and DL. My suggestion is to use it as a guideline, but the people that have the up-to-date information are the character handlers.

Was the Queen of Hearts just never out? Or were the times on the app wrong? (Trying to figure out if I need to be skeptical about *who* is listed as well as the times, or just the times). Thanks

One day it was that the app showed she would be out at 3 pm, but I found out that a little before that time she had gone backstage for the day. Another day the app showed that she would be in the park, but when I asked a Cast Member he said the schedule had changed and she would not be out at all that day.

good to know, thanks! Do all character handlers have an idea of who will be out? Or is it more like asking a handler in town square about a character that should be out in town square, etc..?

Generally, the handlers in each area will have a schedule for the characters in that area. However, you can always ask and they should at least be able to point you in a direction. For example, I was speaking with a Cast Member at PFF about the Queen of Hearts and she suggested that I check with a CM outside Pixie Hollow. He was the one that was able to tell me she would not be out that day.

We did pretty decently with it. We had some trouble pinning down Frollo, but he showed up about 15 minutes later. I also think they adjust some of their meet locations based on how crowds are in the area.

I did see her for a quick picture at MHP, but was looking again the next morning for an autograph in my Animated Characters Encyclopedia. After standing in the walkway by the Tea Cups so I could watch toward Small World, Dumbo, and Pixie Hollow at the same time, we started to give up. We were walking toward Pixie Hollow to look by the wishing well and ran into QOH, Alice, and Mad Hatter. I was able to take another picture and get my autograph. Thanks for asking!!

I was bummed (but understand why) the villains weren't signing at the party. So it was nice to catch up with some of them during regular park hours. I'm glad you got yours!

Ditto!!! It was a little interesting trying to figure out who was and was not signing!

I do find it semi-reliable. Times can be off a little bit, they are humans and sometimes go in early or come out late (especially the roaming ones) or schedules can be changed for whatever reason, but usually at least they remove the characters if they aren't going to be there. If a character that is supposed to be there calls in sick or is reassigned I have seen them removed from the app for the day. Also, uncommon characters that are only out occasionally have shown up on the app. I saw Dr Facilier on the app and he was there today, which was a pleasant surprise since he was only at his dinner all through Halloween time.

That sounds fun! The last time I looked for her she was switching off with Aurora at the wishing well. Definitely ask the Cast Members at PFF. They should be able to tell you when she will be out and where.
