Disneyland AP price increase?

It might be a good idea to keep your eyes and ears open tomorrow....

I'd rather not say how I know this. You don't have to believe me, but I'm not psychic and I don't make things up so obviously I have a valid reason to believe that it's true.

"Announcement is coming tomorrow for Sunday increases. APs and ticket prices."

Dana, how do you know this for certain?

Dh called today and asked about price increases, to which he was told they had no knowledge of any increase any time soon.

Not saying this isn't completely true. It really could be. Even if there is an increase, my guess is that it won't be anything on the scale of what we experienced last year.

A couple things to consider though. The front line phone CMs unfortunately are not always told things when they need to know them, so I wouldn't have a lot of expectation that they would be informed of something like this very much in advance anyway. Secondly, even though they don't always succeed and this gets harder and harder in today's age of connectedness, Disney works very hard not to let information of this type get out there before they want it to. A phone line CM even if he knows or suspects that a price increase is coming isn't that likely to intentionally give you this information if they have been told it is not for dissemination yet.

I think we'll know when Disney wants us to know. The only thing we do know at the present time is that on June 3, the price of the southern CA City Pass goes up. Right now you can advance purchase a City Pass for $306. Starting June 3, it will cost $319. This is official as it is published on City Pass's website. The main component of the southern CA City Pass is the Disneyland 3-day parkhopper. Is the increase tied to an expected increase in Disneyland ticket prices? Is it tied to increases in the Universal Studios or SeaWorld ticket prices instead? Is it just going to be more expensive to cover administrative costs or because the market will bear it? Don't know the reason, but I suspect that this expected change is just one of the many things fueling the Disneyland ticket price increase rumors.

I think it is so sad that Disneyland keeps increasing the price of tickets so much. I think they are already ridiculously too high, BUT, people pay it so they keep increasing it...

I find it interesting that you edited your post. For in my previous post, that is a quote from your post, you know the original one.
I like how you say " I have a valid reason to believe it's true". There is a big difference between knowing the truth and believing something to be true. So therefore your valid reason may only support your belief, not the truth.

I can't say that I believe anything from your post. And that is true.
If you're correct, we shall find out soon enough.

Okay. I'm sorry for causing such trouble. I was just trying to help. I thought it might be helpful to some people to have a few extra hours to plan their finances, but I should've known saying something would just be met by skepticism. I totally get that, but I thought maybe I'd get a "hey thanks" instead of someone acting like I was trying to pull a fast one. Why would I do that? How would it benefit me to come here and lie about that? If anything I would be getting someone close to me in trouble by saying it, and that's why I didn't want to say how I knew. It would make me absolutely sick if I knew someone lost their job because I was trying to help people I don't even know here.

For the record I edited my post because I realized I made a 100% direct statement but since I am not the one who will be making an official announcement it wasn't completely fair to do that. I should've said something like "I was given information that is very reliable but until an announcement is made nothing is certain" to begin with. So for that I apologize.

Another board that is very reliable in my opinion has said they think it may happen. They are reliable enough, I am buying my brothers 6 PAPs today.

And that is what the CMs said last year the day before the official announcement.

Well, I thought it was helpful and I thank you for passing along what you know. That's the primary source of almost all of our original information on DIS...rumor from those in the know. Most of the time, it is accurate. In this case, the worst that could happen is someone buys their tickets before they had planned on it.

We've all been expecting a price increase and this is exactly when that expected increase would happen. Hopefully, it isn't huge because I have 4 hoppers to buy for Dec. but I don't have the money right now. If the increase is minimal it won't save me anything to buy them 6 months ahead since I don't have the money sitting around. If the increase is large, well...I'll have to think about maybe getting a couple now or putting it on my card. I was hoping there might be a hopper deal through Costco for Dec. but that wouldn't come out until later. It's all such a guessing game.

So, if it does turn out to be true, does that mean the price increase is not coming with an announcement a couple days in advance. Has an official advanced notice happened consistently each of the last few years, or did it only happen last year?

For the past several years, Disney has announced it a couple days in advance. Everyone has been assuming the increase would come on Sunday with a Friday announcement since that has been a typical pattern. Disney changes things up once in a while though (like increasing prices in May last year instead of waiting until August). I still see the possibility that the price increase might come this Monday. Southern California city passes go up on Monday, and the 3-day Disneyland parkhopper is one of the components of the city pass. There have also been rumors of a WDW price increase and with the new one Disney philosophy, not to mention the premiere passport, I can see the bigwigs deciding that raising prices simultaneously on both coasts would be a good idea. I think WDW raised prices on June 3 last year.

I think I know this but can someone please confirm it for me. Your AP starts the first day you use it, not the purchase date? Thanks.

It is not a surprise to me, for based on information that I had received from a tickets CM awhile back, which I had posted on a different thread, it was just a matter of when this month there would be an increase.
I am far more interested in the truth than rumor.

Correct, as long as you're going this year. You have to redeem vouchers by the end of the year.
