You have to consider that, unlike Central Florida, coastal Southern California doesn't have a "slow" travel season (aside from the usual school year stuff). We don't have any extreme weather periods beyond some sweltering heat in August and September (we do get a couple of heat waves up into the triple digits), and that's still way better than Florida because the humidity is maybe 15%. The "average" historical high in August-September is around 86 degrees (again with some heat wave exceptions), whereas the average high in December and January is around 68-70 degrees, and our rainy season only lasts from about November to March with close to zero from April or May to October. That giant ocean out there tends to keep temperatures relatively constant.
