Is there any discounts on tickets to DL. And what is the better of the hotels to stay at? One more question is there a monorail and if so does it go to any of the hotels? thanks mike

The monorail goes by the Grand Californian but does not stop there. You can use points to stay at the DL resorts, though. The monorail does stop in DTD which is very close to all three resorts. The monorail is under construction and has been operating at a half loop for a while. It is going completely down for construction in Sept or at the end of this month.

We didn't get any discounted tickets based on our DVC membership. They do give you portable perks for DL when you check into the DL resorts on points.

Maybe a stupid question but what is a portable perk? We're staying at the Grand Californian in Oct. on points.

It's the little booklet they give you when you check in that contains all the discounts and perks you are entitled to with your DVC membership during that stay. Things like discounts on meals, shopping discounts, etc.

They also give you that when you check into WDW resorts on points.

According to my MBG dated 2/3/2006 there is a discount of $20 on DL Deluxe and Premium Annual Passports but these are the only ticket media mentioned for a discount. The discount only applies to new purchase and not renewals.

I personally prefer Paradise Pier, but the Disneyland Hotel is closer to restaurants and shops, and a bit closer to DTD. I am staying at the Grand Californian on points this weekend, and will let you know what I think.

Miceage is reporting that a CA DVC,and a third cruise ship based in California was mentioned at a meeting recently at the resort.

We stayed at the Grand Californian :sunny: on points this last July. what a beautiful hotel. Just wanted to tell you about their power walk for guests. I'm not sure if you are interested but it's free and wonderful. Before DCA park opens up you can meet at the gate (which is right inside the hotel) and go for a power walk with a CM. It was so much fun being inside the park before it opened and the CM was great. There were only five of us on this walk which took place at 7:30. We then went back to our room got ready and found out on these boards if you are at the gate 1/2 hour before opening they will let you in to do the first ride of soaring before opening time. We were in the front row. What a great way to start the day! Enjoy your trip! :teeth:

I read that .. won't that be wonderful! Although I am sure it is probably at least a few years off still, but it is good to dream :sunny:

We are staying for the first time on points in May at the DLH. I am thinking about doing a split between GCH and DLH, but I am not sure we are going to do that. Depends on how many points we are going to need for our stay in WDW next Sept. Anyway it's fun planning!

The Grand Californian is the one most like the deluxe WDW resorts. The other two hotels were not built by Disney, but have been refurbished by Disney and are also nice as well. There's no need to ride the monorail, everything is within walking distance at Disneyland.
