Headed to LA for conference in August and just extended my stay for 3 night to go to Disneyland. Have not been since I was 7 so I don't remember it. I have been to the world a lot so this is new. I booked Paradise Pier since it was the cheapest onsite. I was sad to learn there is no magical express. I bought tix with Res or something like that under the mousesavers link. So how do I book fast passes? There doesn't seem to be a mydisneyexperience for Disneyland like for the world so I need a lot of help....

Start with this sticky: http://www.disboards.com/threads/dl...iews-hydroguys-tips-newbie-info-here.1072276/

Lots of Disneyland info there, fastpass procedures included. We're old school at DLR. No need to pre-plan, although do keep an eye on this forum as there are rumblings about possible changes to the system. If it happens, it will be discussed here.

I hope you have a GREAT time at the Disneyland Resort!

Awesome being able to visit again!
You get paper FPs in the parks. Just insert your park ticket into the FP machine and you're good to go. Not all rides have FP option. Indy has FP, SRL and of course stand by.
If you don't already have the official Disneyland App, then download it when you have a chance. You'll find it in Playstore for Android and in ITunes store for iPhone. It is a very nice app to keep track of wait times, see menus, make meal reservations, know park hours and much more.
Don't know what you may be aware of about DL recent changes, with that said the trains are not running. Big Thunder Ranch is shut down permanently. So is BTBbq. The Court of Angels is no longer accessible to the general park visitor. The Jungle Cruise has a new docking system. Pirates lair is not currently accessible, nor is the path around from big thunder to fantasyland. Startours has new experiences. The hat box ghost has returned to his attic. POTC still has its p.c. changes and the movie add ins. After bag check you may or may not be subject to walking through a metal detector. You will have EMH since you're staying on site. You can take advantage of that by taking part or by going to the park that is opposite of it. And churros are $4.25 now. :faint:

You'll have an awesome time!

Make sure to take advantage of SRL. :)

Disneyland alone is SO MUCH FUN! I just got back yesterday from 3-days SOLO in the parks. No worries about what others want to do, see, eat, etc.

You can not book FP in advance like WDW. We have what many call "legacy" FP. It is old school walk up to the machine, insert your ticket & get a paper FP.

Don't forget to book yourself a nice meal (Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle) and don't worry about feeling odd being solo.

I did a solo trip last year. It was great, but I kind of drove myself too hard. Figured that since I wasn't obligated to please hubby and kids, I should do all the stuff I like, AS FAST AND AS OFTEN AS I CAN. Yeah, that backfired-- I was exhausted and blister-ridden. Going again with just DH for my birthday in Sept, and really looking forward to it-- and this time I'm going to go at a more leisurely pace, and enjoy!

It's so fun to do what you want, when you want, though. I did kind of miss the fam-- I found I kind of missed seeing the reactions of excitement and fun on their faces. But it sure was nice to do things my way! Hope you have a fabulous time!

Agreed, it sounds like a blast.

There is not a magical express but there is a Disneyland Resort Express as well as many shuttle services.

And, though you can't book your fast passes in advance you get to be less planned out and just have fun.

In thinking about dropping off my 8 year old a couple nights in August at the workshop at GCH and wandering alone. Just to be able to move through the crowds would make it fun for me.
