Are others having issues with the DisneyGiftCard site lately?

About a week ago, I was putting in some new cards and then transferring them to one to make space for more cards (since you can still only have 6 at a time -- which is a bit of a pain if you're saving up for dues). My normal thing is to add a few cards and then transfer them onto one -- and use the option to "delete empty cards" after the transfer. I did that with a few cards no problem. Then, when I tried to do it again, I was transferring 3 cards onto one other card -- and got an error that two of the cards "could not be transferred at this time." Weird. I tried a few more times and it didn't work, so I gave up.

A few days ago, I logged in to try again and there was a notice at the top of the screen that there were issues with transferring between cards and they were working on it. I was glad to see it was a known bug and being worked on.

Yesterday, when I logged in, the message at the top said that they had resolved the issue and to try again -- and if it still fails to remove the cards and re-add them and then do the transfer. I tried and it still failed -- but I didn't have my physical cards on me, so I couldn't remove and re-add them.

Today, I logged in and the message at the top is still the same. I go to My Cards and they are all GONE. Instead, they have been replaced by 3 cards that I transferred to other cards back in 2022!

Clearly, something very odd has happened to their database.

I thought that I'd just start over and it won't even let me add my normal cards back. Just gives an error that the card can't be added. So, clearly, they are still having issues. (I did use the Check Balance to confirm that my cards still have their expected balance -- but even from that page, it won't let me actually add the card.)

Just curious if others are seeing similar behavior lately?

Actually, disregard. I logged into an old account accidentally.

I mean, most of that is still accurate -- the site was funny last week, wouldn't let me transfer, they said it was fixed, I still couldn't transfer, and so on. The part that is wrong is from when I logged in today. That was incorrect and I'm in the right account now and my cards show up. I still can't transfer, but will try removing and re-adding them.

Sorry for the confusion.

EDIT: I have now confirmed that it is working again for me as long as I delete the cards that I have and then re-add them. So, clearly, they still had some sort of significant database issue. But it does appear to be semi-resolved as long as you delete your existing cards and re-add them.

Don't want to sound preachy, but (which means I will/might).....
I regularly use the DGC sight to combine DGC and check balances. I no longer leave my cards in my account. Once I have combined/checked the balance, I always delete all my cards. While I have never had an issue, many others have had issues with funds/cards getting stolen from their accounts. The site warns you that it is not a digital wallet/vault. With the GC site using the same login as all your Disney accounts, if anyone hacks any of your Disney accounts, they can drain all your GC. Your post made it sound like you left cards with funds on them in the site. I just felt compelled to deliver the PSA......

Yes, I see that, but I'm willing to trust the site a bit to store cards. That's really a side issue here, but since we're on the topic...

The site does not contain, by default, enough of the card to actually use them. If you have some references were "many others" have had gift card funds stolen from their actual Disney accounts, I'd be interested in reading about them. The site doesn't allow you to use the card directly and doesn't show the last 4 digits of the card or the EAN that you'd need to actually use them elsewhere (with the exception of using them to pay for Disney stuff -- where you don't need the EAN all of the time, but would still need the last 4 digits which are not shown on the site). So, literally, you could log into my Disney Gift Card account right now, see all of my balances, and still not be able to use those cards really.

Also, Disney appears to be forcing MFA now in that it emails you a code at login. So, they'd have to both compromise your Disney account and your email. At that point, you likely have more problems to worry about than your Disney gift cards. :)

And, yes, it does say that it isn't a digital wallet -- meaning that you should keep your digital cards. The warning is not about keeping cards on the site. It is about ONLY keeping them there.

I run an IT firm. We literally do cybersecurity work every day. And even I'm not paranoid about leaving my gift cards on the Disney site. There are simply usually more important things to worry about, IMO, but thanks for the concern.

I can't say how they get by the MFA, but once in the account - from the stories I have seen on here they Xfer the funds to a new card (originally empty) and then use the new card. On the GC site, you do not need the full card info to transfer, unlike trying to actually use an existing card.

This and this 100%. I also worked cybersecurity for many years at a Fortune 100 company and I do not have any significant concerns. There was one lengthy thread that I recall, but it seemed to be a one off that still did not make me overly concerned.

If you might use them for something other than dues then obviously it makes sense to keep the funds on a gift card. If you’re sure you’ll use the funds for dues, though, you can apply them to your account on the member website. If you’ve already paid this year’s dues, the funds will be applied as a credit balance. We do this with periodic purchases of discounted GCs. I like spending them as soon as we get them so I don’t have to worry about the funds being stolen.

If I were you two, I'd lay low for awhile. If word of this heresy becomes public, you'll be dodging torches and pitchforks (and Knights Templar too).

ETA: And definitely, positively, stay away from any DVC or DVC-related threads.

That's a good idea, actually. They are just for dues -- and that would help with the 6 card limit. I've always just paid them after the fact, but pre-paying them with the cards sounds good.

We do our cards through Meijer deals -- so we save about 10%. (Plus get credit card points on top of that.)

If you haven't prepaid yet, when you open up the Dues page it will look like you can't pay now. You'll need to click on Pay By Contract and then select a contract (if you have more than one) and click Pay Other Amount. After that it's easy. We get e-GC, so I have the DVC dues site open and the GC page open and simply copy and paste the numbers.

The IMHO justified paranoia about the Disney gift card site stems from them migrating something or another internal a few years ago and stuff disappearing. They did issue warnings in advance but you know how that goes. Disney fell back on “it’s not a digital wallet” and did nothing to try to find lost cards if you didn’t have the original numbers.

Make sure you have the gift card numbers stored somewhere else too
