Wednesday, 10/3/01 Epcot, or OMG! The Fountain is Back On!!
I was planning on sleeping in today. The plan was to take it easy for the morning, and then do World Showcase only in the afternoon and evening. However, I remembered that I had a 7:00am appointment with CRO to make a PS for the Crystal Palace for the DISCON MVMCP for December 2nd. So the Mouse got me up about 6:50am, and I was on the phone with CRO by 7:00. Got that all taken care of. Oh well, Im awake now. Might as well go out and see what the animals are doing. There were two duckies out by the watering hole on the savannah who were arguing with each other in very loud voices. QUACKQUACKQUACK!!!!! One would chase the other, and then theyd reverse roles. I got a kick out of it.
Did I tell you how cool the Animal Kingdom Lodge is?
Thought maybe I did.
After our usual breakfast, we parked over at the Yacht and Beach Clubs (Oh, well just be an hour or so, he said, dumping the 3-hour parking authorization in a trash can. Bad disneycub!) and took a Friendship Boat over to the International Gateway. No way was I going to walk from the Y&B to Epcot.
After getting my special Annual Passholder lanyard from Guest Services, we took off to World Showcase.
It was hotter than blazes that day. Course you have to understand that I start baking at about 75 degrees. We visited most every country except Canada, Morocco and Mexico. I got to see Impressions de France and the China film for the first time. I dont really recall doing anything else particularly special, except for the occasional dive for a bench that happened to be in the shade and taking a lot of breaks. I wasnt in good shape on that day, but pressed on.
I think we made it over to Future World around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. We went over to Test Track to find that the standby line was only 30 minutes long, and the FastPass machines were issuing tickets for 30 minutes in the future. How often does that happen? I thought at this point in the day, there wouldnt be any FastPasses left. Low crowds once again. We picked up FastPasses and went to the Electric Umbrella for a snack ($15). Thats when I realized the huge Epcot Fountain was up and running again. I was so excited (obviously its the little things that turn my crank). So we sat and watched the water for a long time. Then it was off to Test Track, and then we did Ellens Energy Adventure. Apparently Exxon didnt pay their Energy bill or something, because at the last station where Ellen wins Jeopardy, everything went dark. A very bored CMs voice came over the PA, summarizing the end of the ride. Ellen wins over Stupid Judy. Hooray. Imagine Eeyores voice and youve got the picture. Once they got the transports doors open, we exited, and made our way back over to World Showcase.

Malcolm bought us a couple of frozen lemonades and we found a shady spot near Italy to watch the Tapestry of Dreams Parade. Basically its the same parade as Tapestry of Nations with new voice-overs by children telling what their dreams are. I thought it was very sweet, and very well done. The main character is called the Dream Catcher and his float is a big tree-like structure with, you guessed it: stylized dream catchers on the limbs. The music remains the same as TON. I still think its a good parade.
After TOD, we went over to Great Britain and listened to the British Invasion for a while before our PS at the Rose and Crown. When I went up to the counter, I asked for an outside table with a good view of Illuminations. I was told they would do the best they could. I was pretty b****y at this point, and was getting ready to cause a big ol scene if I didnt get a good table, but fortunately we were seated outside with a spectacular view of the lake. Darn, just when I was getting fired up for no apparent reason, they do what I want them to do!
We told our server that we were going to take our own time, and she was very attentive and didnt push at all. Malcolm had the special, cod and scallops, and I had Bangers and Mash. It was very nice and very enjoyable. Total with tip: around $55.
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth was spectacular as always, and the view from the Rose & Crown was wonderful. I was actually able to see the images on the globe for the first time. I really dont know how Disney will top this show. But Im sure theyll try.
After the show and coffee, we made our way back to the Y&B and re-claimed the rental car. No tow, no ticket for parking waaaay overtime. Hehehehehe!
