Disney World with a 14-month old

Backtracking here for a moment...At the Little Mermaid show we sat towards the back and it was crowded but not to the full extent that we have seen in the past. We had small children all around us and I wondered if they were newbies or not. It's always fun to listen to the newbies as they talk about the attraction or ride for the first time. Anyways, the show started and our GD was in her grandpa's arms. I knew what was coming so I had her blanket ready. We must have been sitting under the full force spray. I had her covered but the children behind us were not happy at all.. the show was great as always but I still am not fond of the bright strobe flashes...my eyes, my eyes..I also used the blanket to cover our GD when the strobe lights flashed. I should have put my :3dglasses on!

After that we headed over to

I liked the outside of the building, very colorful...

We had to wait about 15 minutes before we were inside. This was our first time in this attraction, me, a newbie...and I was surprised that you sit on the floor...no way! I was not sitting on the floor, I would not be able to get up! and our GD would not sit still, she would want to be crawling everywhere, so we opted to stand along the back wall.. As more guests were coming in the CM's kept asking everyone to move forward. I am glad we decided to stand as it got very crowded on the floor..

So my brain was thinking this show was Bear in the Big Blue House...because that is what I remember on the sign from years ago. Funny me. :rotfl: Um, I stood outside in front of the Little Einsteins...that should have been the first clue!

The show was cute for young children, our GD seemed to like it.

Also during the show there were times when the audience got involved and had to stand jump and shake and turn..and with that many people there was alot of bumping going on. Here are some more pics of the show.

Oh I smelled something...

I could not wait until the show was over and I think the guests next to me had the same feeling!

and finally the end of the show and Minnie is surprised with a birthday cake!

Off to change the diaper...when I get into the ladies room the changing table was being used...no big deal...but the child looked about 5 yrs old! He was too big when he laid down on the table, he had to bend his knees...and the mom, not sure what she was thinking, did not bring something, anything for the child to lay on...a blanket, towel, a changing pad...just had the child lay on the cold metal...and it was not just a pee-pee...OMG! ICK!
When she was done I took out the wipes and cleaned off the metal table before even putting down the changing table pad that we took with us...no way in *&%^ would I lie my child down without something under him/her!

After my GD was in a clean diaper I went to wash my hands and was grossed out again by these women who come out of the stall and leave. WASH YOUR HANDS PLEASE! FOR YOUR SAKE!!!

A happy child!

next up: Beauty and the Beast...

We hurried over to Beauty and the Beast after the Little Einsteins.. We are just around the corner from Brown Derby Restaurant and I looked down at my GD and she is missing a white sock...hold on, time to go on a scavenger hunt...DH waits off to the side with GD in the shade and my eyes are glued to the ground...Found it! Under someones foot! Excuse me please your standing on my GD sock. Thank you. Now I am walking fast, which I don't do..and off to Beauty and the Beast.
Some pics along the way

When we get there they have already started letting guests in..I get my GD out of the stroller, grab her cup with water and DH parks the stroller.

Infront of our favorite show.

Several years ago my DH found the best spot to watch the show, the row behind the control booth!

The show was great! The actor who portrays Gaston is fantastic. We have seen him perform many times before, even with a little ab-libbing. And he has a great voice, plays the part very well!

Our GD watched some of the show from my arms to her grandpa's arms to keeping the guests behind us entertained. She is waving to them and laughing. I thought she was interrupting them watching the show so I tried to keep her facing forward...She did like the part where the spoons come out and form a circle around Belle.

After the show we went across the 'road' to sit at the tables. DH got us a cold drink and I got our GD's cup out...she couldn't drink it fast enough!

I almost forgot Toy Story...we did not ride Toy Story with the baby. We did, however, ride it at DL back in October and it was a blast!!! It swings you around and she is too small for that...not even sure what the age/height restrictions are... but we did get some nice pics of the area.

I liked the outside at WDW's Toy Story better than at DL.

I have to comment back on your MK day. DS loved the control for Buzz Lightyear and he kept spinning us around and around. My DH was soooo not happy because he's really competitive on that ride and couldn't get a good score! :rotfl: Little kids just love that joystick!

Our GD is not quite at the joystick spinning stage...next time we go she will be... I have only been able to beat my DH once on that ride and that is because we were stopped and I had a good bullz-eye...raked up all the points possible! Then reality set in the next time I we rode it and I barely got 100,000 points! But it is fun!

Your avator pic is cute! love the mouse ears!

and this year, April 2009

I like this pic...she looks like she is sticking out her tongue!

Did you notice that Grandpa is wearing the same hat and t-shirt from last year!

100_0627.jpg

She always had her finger in her mouth as she is teething. She never cried that it bothered her...

and the other difference is his glasses...he decided not to wear them in the parks since she kept grabbing at them!

next up...lunch at Hollywood & Vine and the very large character heads!
