I just got back from a week in the Berkshires with my mother and sister and while I was there I took a pregnancy test and lo! I'm going to be a mommy to two munchkins!
I go to the Dr. tomorrow but I think I'm only about 2 or 3 weeks along (though according to the chart I'm 5 weeks)
My question is...anyone been to Disney in their first trimester?
Anything to report? My last pregnancy was super super easy. No morning sickness, no hormonal surges, just really tired the first trimester.
I'm hoping this one goes the same way!

Congratulations!!! That is sooooo great!

I don't have any advice for you as far as going to WDW prego, but I just wanted to say congrats!

And I don't want to put a damper on it, but as wonderful as I felt with my first pregnancy, I felt that awful with the second.

I'll send you some pixie dust for luck that you have much better luck than me!!!

We went when I was 10-11 weeks and I had no problems at all, but I also never had any morning sickness or anything at all. I didn't do any of the wild rides (although I did still do the Safari as the highway I drive to work is rougher than that ride). Other than that, it was just like all our other trips. I felt great and had a great time.

Congratulations!

I've only done it late in my 2nd or early in my 3rd trimester, and did great both times. I just took it easy, didn't worry about seeing everything and when the little one napped we were in the room and I took one too!

We went while I was eight weeks prego with ds. I just skipped the obvious wild rides. Fortunately I didn't have morning sickness at all, but I did feel a lot more fatigued than usual. My advice...drink lots of water, take breaks whenever you feel like you need them, try to eat as healthy as possible of course (I know, easier said than done) :D

In case you haven't already found it, Allearsnet.com has tips for expectant moms HERE .

I would suggest you heed the ride warnings and listen to your body. Congratulations, and I wish you all the best.

If your first pregnancy was easy, I think there is a good chance this one will be as well. All four of mine were about the same, except that I was quite a bit older on the last and could tell the difference. Just use common sense and enjoy your vacation as long as your doctor has no objection.

We have a Disney trip planned for May 2005 and I was just told by my Doctors that Im pre-menopausal (IM 32!!!) and if Im going to have a second child I need to do it and not put it off any further than I have to. Now if we try now and suceed in concieving that would put me at about 8 months pregnant when we go to WDW. Should I wait it out or go ahead and get started? I would just love to hear your opinions.

Congrats! I was 20 weeks when we went to WDW and it was a great trip, but also the most exhausting trip we've ever taken. We did a whole lot less, but my feet ached by the time we got back to the room at night. I was so sick for the 1st trimester and beyond, until about 18 weeks. In fact, I almost cancelled the trip because I thought it would be a waste if I were still sick. Luckily the morning sickness went away about a week before we left for WDW. Also, it wasn't morning sickness, it was 24/7 sickness, but that's another story. I did have 2 days where I felt horrible in WDW, but other than that, just plain exhausted everynight. Since you've already got a little baby, you'll be going at a slow pace to begin with so that should help (though caring for the baby will probably make up for the slower pace).
What is of more pertinence to you, however, was a 2 week trip to Alaska we took when I was 6 weeks pregnant. My morning sickness started the day we left for the trip, so up to that point my only 'symptoms' were being slightly more tired and constantly having to pee. So I thought I could do everything my mom, husband, and BIL could do, but I was wrong. Once I resigned to the fact that I needed to rest a lot during the day, take a nap, and drink lots of fluids (water made me vomit, so I drank lots of apple juice, as well as Coke to help with the nausea) I had a great trip. The one thing that I shouldn't have done was gone to the dining room for dinner each night. The smells of all those foods made me sick every night. So that might be something to keep in mind about buffets and places like that.
Really, despite being tired and sick, they were 2 of the best trips we've taken anywhere. So if you go in thinking you can do less, will be very tired, etc., then you'll be happy when you can do more, rather than disappointed that you need to slow down. Have a great time with your little boy-it might be his last WDW trip as an only child so have lots of fun with him!

I would talk with your doctors about going 8 mos pregnant.. I know some airlines won't let you fly after 34 weeks and some doctors don't want you more than 2 hours away from them, in case of an emergency.

MY family DH, DS3 and I are all planning a trip to Gatlinburg, TN and I will be starting my 8th month. My midwives don't mind as my first pregnancy was good, but instead of driving 12 hours strait, we are taking 2, 6 hours day on the way there and back. As for me I am all baby when I am pregant and sitting for so long can be uncomfortable.. So I'd talk with your doctors and ask them.

Also it depends on how easily you get preganat.. Our first one was a Surprise and this one came on the first try.

So best wishes about it all and talk with your family about it and see how they feel.

I went at both 8 weeks and 6 months with my second DD. I was nauseous before I left (but never threw up), and it all stopped at WDW, then returned when I came back. I did go on the safari ride and the rapids. Just remember to drink lots of water, and rest when you need to. If your first pregnancy was easy, you should be ok.

Congrats and have fun!

Rapunzel,
Thanks for the input. Have a great time on your trip to Gatlinburg. We dont live far from there and its a wonderful place to visit. If you have any questions about Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg PM me and I will be glad to help.

Besides the best obvious rides (water & stay off of the wild bumpy rides) .... the best advice that I can offer is that if you go when it's hot spend a lot of time cooling down in the hotel pool and wear the under-the-belly shorts, shirts, or pants. You would be suprised how hot your belly will get if you wear panels. I wore a pair of panel short one day and I was miserable. Also, make sure that you sit and rest your feet. They will thank you later. Also, make sure you've got great walking shoes.

Have fun! I was 6 months when I went and I was very comfortable. Just use your head when you do things.

I went to WDW when I was 6 weeks along (did the test whilst on vacation after I started getting sick!). By the time I'd found out - I'd done every thrill ride in Disney & Universal and was a bit concerned. I did get terrible morning, afternoon & night sickness and I found I couldn't cope with the heat as well as I normally did.

My DD is about to celebrate her 4th birthday in WDW this December and has suffered absolutely no ill effects after the tumultuous nature of that week spent shooting coasters :teeth:

Congratulations on your news :)

No advice on going that early but to listen to your body and the warnings. I went when I was 32 weeks along. It was so great! I just took it easy and really soaked up the environment which was something I had never really done before. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I went to the Dr. today and he drew blood and I'll know Thursday for sure about if I really truly am pregnant or not. (I'm quite sure that I am)
He put my due date at May 13th which means I'm actually 5 weeks along and not the 2 that I thought!

You took a home test right? I think that in order to get a valid result from tha you have to be at least 4 weeks pregnant (counting from the 1st day of your last period). You don't have enough hcg in your urine (usually) until then to show a positive. Well, this was 14 months ago when I took one, I know they have some more sensitive ones now, but I still think you have be to 4 weeks before you can test (ie. the 1st day you're 'late').

Yup. I took TWO home tests and saw the lovely pink lines on both. If you have to be 4 weeks that would make sense then that I could be 5 weeks along...
Thursday can't come quick enough! I KNOW the answer but it's nice to have it confirmed by a Dr.

The discrepancy in the dates is caused by the following....

the date you actually conceived is not the date you are deemed to have started your pregnancy.
The date you are considered to be pregnant is actually the first day of your last period - even though you don't actually conceive for approx 14 days after that date iyswim ? :)

So even if you 'know' you've been pregnant for 2/3 weeks , for the purposes of calculation you've actually been expecting for 4/5 weeks :teeth:

Clear as mud right ??

It's all too confusing for my befuddled sleep deprived brain to figure out. I'm trusting my Dr. and his potential due date and I know that when the first ultrasound is done, we will have a 100% accurate plan of where I am in this pregnancy!
I'm getting excited...
