On our 4th day we visited Animal Kingdom. For some reason this day seemed very hot (I have heard that this park is the hottest in terms of heat and I agree). The park did not seem crowded at all. We arrived about 11:00 and headed to get some FastPasses for the Kilimanjaro Safaris, there was only a 10 minute stand-by line so we went on. We saw only a few animals because it was so hot (they had all probably taken cover from the heat).
After the Safari, we walked through the Gorilla trail (again not many animals --only saw one gorilla and he was sacked out way back in the shade). After seeing those two attractions we decided to take a lunch break. We headed into the cafe in Africa, I can't remember the name but they had the meal special for $10.99 still going on so we all got that (it included an entree, lg. drink and coupons for ice cream and pop or water for later--pretty good deal).
Next we saw a Bug's Life (no wait), then headed into the dinosaur area to ride donosaur and the new wild mouse-style ride. Only a 10 minute wait on Dinosaur (so we rode it twice--everyone loved it) and then we rode the wild-mose ride (didn't seem like a disney style ride--more like a carnival, but it was still fun).
Next it was off to Asia and through the trail there. We decided not to do the water ride because we had dinner reservations at Boma and didn't want to go lookin like a bunch of drowned sea rats to a nice dinner (although the water might have been a nice break from the heat).
We caught the parade and then went straight into the Lion King show with no wait.
By the time we got out of the lion King Show it was about 5:00 and our dinner reservations were for 6:15 at Boma so we decided to head to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and cool off before dinner and have another cocktail at Victoria Falls.
This time me and my partner as well as my mom and step dad, and my sister and her daughter went to dinner together. My sister's boyfried was still insistant on eating at the slop houses on 192 and he and my sister had an arguemnet over it and he and his son went off to have there own dinner (the guy is kinda weird, but we weren't about to let it ruin our dinner and my sister was fine letting him go off on his own--oh well).
First it was cocktails at Victoria Falls--safari martini-yum! Dinner at Boma was great (I normally don't like buffetts, but this one was pretty good and had a lot of unique items...the desserts were especially good and the zebra domes were to die for). If you go to WDW, don't miss Boma, for the price and the variety it is a deal ( I think it was about $22.00 for adults and about $9.00 for kids).
After dinner we walked around the lodge with my parents and sister since they had not seen it before and saw quite a few animals in the back of the hotel on the savannah.
At about 9:00 we headed back to our hotel, the Renassance World Gate (just about 2 miles for the lodge). Upon arriving at our hotel we decided that next visit we would splurge on the rooms and stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but for this night we would just have to dream about staying there.
