Trying to find some reading material to pass the time on a flight I have to take next week. Does anyone have a Disney travel/planning book they like? I've read the Unofficial Guide once and wasn't crazy about it. It simply is made up of the opinions of readers. I'm planning my family's 5th trip to WDW for Oct. 2016, so I'm looking for something that would be helpful. I read an excerpt of the Passporter's Guide. Anyone like this for planning? The Definitive guides? There seem to be a lot of books out there but I don't want to purchase something that simply states what I've already read online. I have a touringplans.com subscription and read a lot of blogs. Anyone have a suggestion? Thought of getting two books. . .. TIA

A couple of different directions:

1. Easy Guide for Your First Disney World Visit - even if it isn't your first visit the book is helpful. Dave and Josh have their own separate blogs and use that knowledge to help people plan. Their is a dry wit in their writing that I find amusing. Can be downloaded. Make sure you get the 2016 version.

2. The Imagineering Guides for WDW. These are not always available in book stores and aren't available in an electronic version. My order with favorite first; Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and then Epcot.

3. I have had good luck The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World. The 2016 is out now.

Birnbaum's Guide to WDW 2016 and also The Unofficial Guide to WDW 2016. Both are on shelves now.

I agree with Hootch. And will add a couple more for your consideration:

The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World: Over 600 Secrets of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom by Susan Veness.
Make sure you get the more recently published second edition. I read the earlier version and found it interesting.

The following is not a planning book but I found it a fascinating collection of stories about the behind the scenes activities of creating Disney magic.

Dream It! Do It!: My Half-Century Creating Disney's Magic Kingdoms
by Martin Sklar

I also enjoy reading while flying and always have a couple of books with me. Have a safe trip.

Thanks everyone. Getting ready to board flight soon. Only book I could find was Fodors. I hope I like it!
