Good idea or bad idea? We'll be in Florida for a week or so and my wife and daughter think Christmas day is probably a good day to go to Disney World. My guess is it is ALWAYS busy over the holidays and Christmas Day gives no particular advantage. Does anyone have any info regarding this?

Thanks

Christmas week is historically one of the busiest and Christmas day is no exception. About 4 years ago we arrived on Christmas day and stayed for 4 nights, I will NEVER go at any point during that week again, the crowds were BIG.
BUT if this is your only chance to go, you don't have small children and you are prepared for the crowds, you might want to consider it.

Go early! We were there two years ago Christmas day. We got to MK at opening, 7 AM! We ate our breakfast at the bakery and left. After we packed, we headed over to EPCOT. We figured that since the park was so big, it wouldn't feel as crowded. It was crowded, but not too bad.

I wouldn't plan a trip for the week between Christmas and New Years for anything, but ending our trip on Christmas Day was wonderful.

I agree. We did the week leading up to Christmas in 2004 and left the day after Christmas...best move we made. The week between Christmas and New Years is crazy-we learned our lesson on that one from years ago. Christmas Day in the parks was wonderful, it was a bit crowded, but was hardly the worst I had seen. I think everyone should spend the holiday there at least once...we had a blast! I worried about not being home for Christmas and thought maybe my kids would miss our traditional celebration, but it really was a magical experience and something they still talk about to this day.

I've heard the Magic Kingdom always reaches capacity on Christmas Day (and other days between Christmas and New Years). That means if you are not there early you won't get in, and if you leave, you won't get back in. I'm not sure if the other parks get that full. If you are there the week before Christmas, than another day that week will probably be less crowded. If it's the week after Christmas, it may not matter because all days are likely to be crowded.

Historically, Christmas Day is one of the 2 or 3 busiest days at WDW of the entire year.

We were there for opening on Christmas Day at the MK and then switched off to MGM in the early afternoon. We had no issues being shut out of the parks, but I think if you sleep in and get a late start, you could have problems.

We skipped the parks and visited the hotels and boardwalk to see the Chrismtas Decorations. I didnt want to fight crowds.
