Has anyone taken a trip to Disney World in the middle of May? I was wondering how crowded it is at that time. I may take a trip there next May and want to have a relaxing experience.

My family and I went May 4 - May 11 last year. The crowds were not bad at all. The longest we waited was about 15-20 mins. & we used fastpass for any attractions with longer waits. The heat, on the other hand, was brutal. 90's & high humidity every day!

We went this past May 10 - May 17, just before school was out and the crowds were great, we maybe waited 15 minutes tops on any ride. It was nice to walk in the parks without such a mob of people. We really enjoyed it. It was unbelievably hot that week though, they said it was very unusual for it tio be that hot. So I am glad there was not such a crowd.

Have a wonderful trip.

May is good up until Memorial Day weekend as far as crowds go but the heat can be rough.

We went May 5- 13 this year, and the crowds were very light --not as light as say, early Dec. or Sept. when we've gone, but definitely manageable. Most rides in most parks were walk-on or very minimal (<10 mins.) waits. Of course Fantasyland had it's usual 30-min.+ waits for Peter Pan, etc., mid-day, but as long as you utilize FP and/or EMH, you shouldn't have to wait in those lines!

As others have said, it WAS really hot, but everyone (CMs, regular May-goers) said it was highly unusual for that time of year to be 90+ -- they said low to mid-80s is more normal. We're going back next year about the same time, so I do hope it's closer to average!

Have fun!

I love May at Disney! The weather is usually great although there have been some hot and humid ones! Two years ago it was perfect weather.:) The crowds aren't bad so that makes getting onto attractions so much better!

My advice....GO!!!!:D :D

We go every May for 2 weeks. My DH and I have been going every May since 1999. We normally do the 2 weeks prior to Memorial Weekend and spend Memorial weekend recuperating from vacation.

We love May. We also went January of this year and just got back from a 10 day trip Aug 8 to the 17th. We prefer May. We have had a couple of warm May's but we don't mind the weather. We love taking breaks at the pool.

I think you should definitely go. Crowds are so much lighter in May (excluding Memorial Weekend I'm sure) then in the summer time.

Hope this helps

We go every year from around the 14-18. It is special for us to go then because my birthday and my twins birthday is the 15th! It is never really crowded and we never wait more than 10-20 mins for a ride. I think it is a great time to go!

I was there last year during the third week in May. It was my first time going at this time of year, all my previous trips had been in the winter. While the crowds certainly weren't unbearable, they were definitely more than I had seen on previous visits. This was the first time I had gone since FastPass, so the wait times weren't any different than I was used to, but the walkways were certainly more crowded and PS's harder to get.

As for the weather, I can't stand the heat, so I thought it was brutal. I'd take 50 degrees any day over 90! What I had the hardest time getting over, though, was the women walking around in bikini tops and unbuttoned shorts. Now THAT'S something I'd never seen during our winter trips!

We've been twice in May, once in October, and I loved May the most! It wasn't much more crowded than October, we spent more time in the water parks, and enjoyed the flower festival at EPCOT. It was in the mid 80's when we were there, with showers/thunderstorms in the afternoon almost everyday. That helped to clear out the parks for shorter lines for us, LOL!

Of course we loved MNSSHP last October, but it seemed a bit chilly for us since we love the heat!

We went this past may (at the end of the month) and had a great time. It was getting warmer, and we spent less time at the parks than in years past, but the crowds were definitely managable.

Going again next May when DD's get outta school. woohoo!!

Like everyone else who has posted...agree with going in May. Earlier in the month is better than later..the closer to Memorial Day you get the more crowded the parks get. We have gone the second and third weeks in May the last two years and could see the wait times get longer in that third week stay.

The weather can be hot, but we found it to be doable. I think MK may close a little earlier than during peak season, but with there being less people to contend with...lines are shorter you can get attractions in without a problem. If I remember correctly, at least a couple of nights..MK will stay open later and they will have fireworks and the late parade..so you won't be cheated on anything by going in May.

Enjoy!

i went may 1-6 for my birthday in 2001. it was PERFECT! probably one of my favorite trips! we did one day in each park and had short waits for everything. got everything done i wanted to and even went on most things twice. the weather was perfect in the 80s.

May is AWESOME!!
Our boys were both born in May, one early, one late, so we alternate when we go so they get to take turns having their birthday with Mickey!!!!
The weather is great.
The crowds are not bad at all.
One problem for us...New arrival due in October...but hey, October is a pretty cool month also. So, I guess now we will alternate May, May, October...or just go both:teeth:
I think you will have a great time.
