Disney World Christmas vacation in 5 days...

And this is our present to our entire family for Christmas.. but I still wanted to get a couple things to put under our tree on Christmas morning, even though I do agree this vacation is super expensive and more than what we would spend on our girls if we weren't going, won't they be super disappointed to have nothing? We have given them an allowance in DW and the hubby says if we take thier allowance away we can put a few gifts under the tree. What do you think? Kids are never satisfied anyways, no matter what you do?

How old are they? My kids are old enough that they would be fine with it, but younger kids want to open presents.

If they are really young get them cheap Disney related gifts like small toys and coloring books.

Have they been to Disney before? If they have been many times they may not be very excited about "giving up Christmas" for a trip.

Are they asking for other things? Again, my kids can barely think of anything that they want anymore, we are past the toy stage, but younger kids will beg and cry for everything they see advertised on tv, and after the trip will still be upset that they didn't get what they asked for

Hey fellow michigander! We are going to WDW on the 12th and staying in FL past x-mas. We still bought a few gifts (son 5 son 15) we just figured they would be bummed to get absolutely nothing. Good luck and have fun!

They are 10 and 6. The trip is really pushing our financial limits.. so.. I don't know. Maybe trinkets for Christmas morning.

Give them gifts they will need on the trip. Hats/sunglasses/t-shirts/beach ball/backpack/Disney toys and so on.....

I really think a Disney World Vacation at Christmas is all that your children need plus the money you are giving them to buy items at WDW. However, it does make sense to take the money and instead buy christmas presents with that money to open on Christmas if that is what you would rather do. It is very understandable in these extremely tough economic times.

Our $ stores have some nice Disney trinkets that won't break the bank. (Think everything for $1 type stores.) Then, they'd have *something to unwrap at home. Another possibility would be if you have family nearby, you could let them *just* open what fam gives the kids.
