Disney World Bus Drivers

My hat is off to all of them for the job they do. I am a driver at my career fire department and all I do is to make sure I get my guys to and from the emergency safe and sound.
Now when I'm at Disney World these men and women have the same task get my family to and from the parks safely. Time and time I have heard some passengers really let the drivers have it verbally beause of one reason or another and the drivers just have to take it all and be a professional.
I always try to strike up a converstion with the drivers when they are able to and each one I have spoke with has always been a pleasure to talk with.
I always greet them as I get on and always thank them we we get off it may not seem like a lot but it is to me.
They are doing their job and a little gratitude goes a long way.

There's a freindly disney bus driver on the boards who i am sure will be happy to know that you had a great time riding the buses. Those passanger need to relize that they are hard workers and do a better job getting you from a to point b then there local transportion. I think the bus drivers are the most consisntly freindly then any other cm i never had a problem with disney transportion bus driver i had problems with other cms. I always get an hello from them even if they are not driving the bus they say hello I was at mk walking to cr and one went out of his way to say hi to me and my mom and ask us how we was doing. He was going on was walking to a back stage area and turned and walked towards us to say hi. Well you know what you can do when you retire become a proud member of the disney transportion bus drivers.

Just tonight I asked DD(5) if we should use our own car at Disney or use the buses.

She said we should use the buses for "several reasons mama":

It is easier to get around.
There are other people to talk to who love Disney.
You and Daddy can just ride and not have to drive.
The bus drivers are so nice mama.

Now. I ask her what about when you can't sit and have to stand? She says I would much rather sit and maybe I could sit on the bus drivers lap.

She is so cute! So she thinks the bus drivers do a pretty darn good job too!

I agree the bus drivers are wonderful. My DH and I always say hello and remember to thank them on the way out. Their job cant be easy.

We do too. My girls both always say and sign thank you (which if you aren't familiar with signing it looks like blowing a kiss except you touch your chin not your lips).

While at Disney world especially CM's ALWAYS think they are blowing kisses! The bus drivers included! You should see how many blown kisses they get back!

The Disney Bus drivers are fantastic. We had one, his name was Richard, and he put his name into Jingle Bells, instead it was Richards Bus, Richards Bus, Richards bus is fun... Later in that ride he had everyone sing happy birthday to my DD (then 16).

They are great people who deserve a lot of kudos!!

We appreciate the bus drivers and the service they provide. It's a nice break for my husband from driving. We have spoken to many of the drivers over the years, and they have always been willing and happy to talk about Disney, etc. I have not met an unfriendly driver, and yes, I've seen people who have been rude to the drivers as well. Some people just seem to miss out on life! So thank you to all the Disney drivers

We just found the president of the disney bus driver fan club see they know at a young age that disney buses are the way to go.

We really do enjoy riding the Disney Busses but we have recently quit riding them not due to disliking the bus system but due to the fact that my DH has to use a scooter that we travel with all of the time. We hate to see the drivers have to strap them in both getting on and off of the busses and we hate taking up seats because of the scooter. We have decided that since the scooter fits in the trunk of just about any car and him and I can get it into the trunk easily we just rent a car and this makes more room for other people. The Disney Bus drivers are awesome and we will always be greatful to them for what they do.

I agree. I've never run across a grumpy Disney bus driver. They are always polite and usually friendly. I think they are one group of Disney employees who I find to be consistently pleasant and helpful.

I would bet if you ask a disney bus driver if they minded getting up to help someone in a wheel chair they say no. Because it gives them a reason to get up and stretch since they are setting for the better part of the day. The new buses are easy for them to load wheel chairs. Mybe on your next trip your family can ride the bus for fun a nice mid day ride will be nice.

Hats off to you. Compared to what you do, we have it easy.

It doesn't happen that often. It's rare and we know it has nothing to with us. Their complaint is usually something to do with the system. We go where we're told when we're told. We only drive the buses and don't decide where or when they go.

I always try to strike up a converstion with the drivers when they are able to and each one I have spoke with has always been a pleasure to talk with.

I for one enjoy it.

I think the drivers appreciate thank yous. We do get a lot of gratitude from guests and Disney does pay us.

We hate to see the drivers have to strap them in both getting on and off of the busses and we hate taking up seats because of the scooter.

I hope those are not the main reasons. One scooter is not going to make much of a difference.

I've been driving professionally for over 27 years. I spent many years driving motor coach on weekends as a second job. I spent a great deal of my time navigating my way through NYC, Boston, Atlantic City and pretty much every other metropolitan area in the northeast.

The reason I bring this up is that I'm well aware of how stressful dealing with traffic, rude riders, etc. can be, and yet, like everyone else here, I've only seen professionialsm and courtesy from WDW drivers.

I've had a lot of great conversations with the drivers on our trips. They really are a great group.

One time, we made the mistake of going to The World during Pop Warner week. After a night at MK that was filled with rude, unsupervised kids, we headed out to the bus stop. There was a long line, when out came one of the Pop Warner groups. They saw the long line and - you guys will love this - one of the coaches approached the driver and requested his team be alowed to board first, as they were coming off a big victory and they deserved some special treatment... All this while there were elderly folks and small children patiently waiting in the line this moron of a coach wanted to usurp.

I could hear the conversation from where we were in line and I immediately became really angry with that kind of rudeness and inconsideration. With my wife trying to hold me back, I started working my way closer to the conversation, as I'm not one for keeping my mouth shut in such situations.

The bus driver was an older gentleman. This coach was a large, imposing man and I noticed him - while not being outwardly aggressive - getting very much into the driver's "space" as he spoke... To me, an obvious attempt a little intimidation as well as persuasion.

The bus driver handled the situation with grace and tact. Smiling all the while, he explained to the coach that there was no way his request would be granted. He congratulated him on his big victory, but explained that was not a reason to allow his team to inconvenience so many others. As the coach persisted, then finally left in a huff, the polite smile never left the driver's face, as he helped passengers on board.

Pure class.

It also resulted in a lecture for me from my wife on how I should have just learned that a distatsteful situation can be handled by means other than a chokehold.

I hate it when she's right!

Did the bus driver look like brad pitt because it might have been magicbus because i hear he gets confused for him all the time.

I always say thank you to all the bus drivers. They do a great job. The last two trips I have had to use a scooter and was always given top shelf service. Polite, attentive and friendly. They are an asset to Disney

It's funny, last night at AKL we were waiting for a bus to DHS. The bus drove in and stopped at another spot to let people off. A couple ran to catch the bus and boarded, while a group of us were waiting at the DHS bus stop. Then the bus drove right past us and out. People were yelling, waving etc but to no avail. Finally another bus dropped off from animal kingdom. Some of the group asked the driver if she was going to DHS. I don't think she was, but she ended up taking all of us there - with a smile. That was wonderful. I made sure to leave a positive comment for her at guest relations...

WE always use a car, but I have to agree the bus drivers do a fine job. Driving a bus at WDW must be very stressful. Traffic is tough, especially dealing with people in cars who don't know where they are going, stopping or turning suddenly,etc.
Then the roads themselves--a # of TIGHT turns and corners.
PLus looking out for people walking who walk right out in front of a moving bus.
And of course the passangers themselves--many of whom are not as friendly as they should be.
