Disney World Announces Implementation of Park-Specific Pricing on Single-Day Tickets

Disney World has announced that 1-day, 1-park tickets will be priced based on the theme park that you visit starting December 8th. The park-specific pricing breaks away from the single price for a ticket that was previously good for all four theme parks. Here are the price ranges for 1-day, 1-park tickets starting December 8th:

  • Magic Kingdom: $124 to $189
  • EPCOT: $114 to $179
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $124 to $179
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $109-$159 (no increase)
Here’s the announcement from Disney:

1-Day, 1-Park Tickets

Beginning Dec. 8, Walt Disney World will introduce park-specific pricing on 1-day, 1-park tickets. Moving forward, guests will select a date and theme park before purchasing their ticket. When you purchase a 1-Day ticket for a specific date and theme park, a theme park reservation will automatically be made at the time of purchase.

  • This change is only for those who purchase 1-day tickets for a specific date and park. Most guests will continue to make theme park reservations.

With the new park-specific pricing, Magic Kingdom Park will be priced at or above our other theme parks due to the incredible demand, as it remains the most-visited theme park in the world.

NEW: Starting Dec. 8, Walt Disney World will implement park specific pricing for 1 day 1 park tickets. Prices will vary based on park and date.

Ranges:

Hollywood Studios: $124 – $179

Which price range is correct? There are 2 listed.
It looks like the blog made an error and copied the same price range for two parks… I corrected it to show the pricing Scott Gustin reported.

Isn't this similar to how the 1-day park ticket pricing worked pre-covid? I thought they used to have different pricing for each park. Am I losing my mind????

I vaguely remember MK had a different price than the other parks. You get a single day ticket to MK or a single day ticket to any non MK park

What a surprise, the prices go up again.
To date, the continual price increases hasn't had much of an impact on the crowds. At some point it will.

I think the main thing is that when you buy a 1-day ticket, your park reservation is automatically made at the same time. No one can buy a 1-day ticket and not make a park reservation because those two actions are rolled into one.

When buying multi-day tickets, it's still two separate processes - buy ticket, make park reservations.

So... since you don't have to make a reservation with this new type of ticket... I hope they don't sell it if the park is already at capacity. For example MK is already at capacity on NYE. So if I have a 6 day ticket, I can't go to MK if I don't already have a reservation. But if I buy a 1 day MK ticket for NYE could I get in? I hope not.

I’m sure this will be the case as already if a park is full for park reservations they won’t sell a hopper pass. A full park for park reservations will = inability to purchase a 1 day ticket to that park.

Will people be able to switch parks/dates and pay the difference (I'm guessing there wouldn't be a refund or credit if the new date/park was less)? They keep removing more and more flexibility for trips:(

Good question, but I would assume they can "upgrade" and change the park. This is only involving those buying 1-day/1-park tickets, so there probably aren't a lot of people who change their minds on that kind of visit.

The point is to not sell tickets for parks that are full.

They don't want people saying "I bought a ticket and now I can't get a reservation."

I really cannot fathom the Execs sitting around discussing how to make things even more complicated. Just proof they look at guests simply as walking money bags.

Agree. Each thing they change seems to make things more complicated instead of easier.

So if I have to buy a single day for Epcot for Feb. Should I buy now before Dec 8? Current price is $154. Ugh, so expensive.

Buying a 1-day ticket has always been the most painful from a value standpoint.
Have you considered the per-day savings of extending your trip to 10 days?
If you buy now perhaps time will have fade away what you paid and let you concentrate on just having a good time!

I realize this, and understand the more days you buy the cheaper they get. We've reduced our yearly Disney trip down to 1 day at Epcot and an after-hours night at HS. The rest of our days will be spent at Universal for various reasons.
